Young Kevin did a solid job with getting the weekend recaps and playoff situations up Monday. Kudos!

Also, props to Kalamazoo for a good story on the quarterback's on-the-field proposal.

My only question, and it is only a question, why little to no photography on the league site? We are a very visual medium, as you know.

The Dayton Bulldogs took weird shots of the action because the backdrop of the crowd seated behind the action was sparse. Photography would be counter productive if the crowd was sparse.

Maybe many of the teams struggle to get a photographer and statistican to record the action because they too walk-out with the players/coaching staff for those teams that say enough is enough when they don't get paid?

If any stats are recorded for Springfield and Steubenville I'd be happily surprised.

But then again, what do I know?

Good job on getting whatever stats the individual teams have to offer, up on the main CIFL website. Good job!

Not that many CIFL teams have photographers; at least they didn't last year. As such, there's not much to choose from. Perhaps the best way to alleviate this is to ask for fan pictures...maybe offer a couplea bucks if they're used on the league site or something.

Your response cutteth me to quick. Does thou cities in yonder CIFL have not those who wishest to be photographers?

Lois Griffin: No Peter, that's culture!

The guy who makes the logos for the CIFL teams also has caught some video footage of a few games. It isn't professional, but it still isn't bad stuff.

I don't know the reasoning. Generally, as I've seen it - if someone came to the teams saying "hey, I want to be your photographer," that team had one. I don't know that anyone actively searched.

Silverbacks photos are available at www.miamivalleyphotography.com

* Click on "Order Photos"

* Then click on "Miami Valley Silverbacks"

Should be 50-100 photos of each game and other events.

I like the idea of fans submitting digital pictures. I mean c'mon virtually everyone I know has at least a cell phone with a camera feature on it. Have the idea promoted on the CIFL league website and on each teams' website asking fans to submit their photos/mp3 video files to be used in game summaries.

I'm surprised the league's bylaws doesn't require each team to have someone snap some pictures at each game (a goaline stand, etc.) to be sent to the CIFL website for publication. You guys got cheerleaders, ticket takers and concession people and yet the focus (no pun intended) was elsewhere when it came to visuals. There's a reason why they call Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated. Men are visual animals. I'd be bored to death reading a book without pictures. I'd rather go to the movie than read the book version. It's the same way here in regards to photography.

I guess I do have to volunteer my services at the league level to get the right things done, and done right. I'm sort of pissed I have to suggest these things in the first place. I don't see the minimal vision at the league office level that should have this structure in place from the get-go. Pathetic.

Cameraphones do not take good action photos and the quality of video isn't great either.

Once again, I am blessed with four excellent photographers -- feel free to visit the photo galleries on all the WIFL team sites.

That depends where you are in the lifecycle of photographer equipment. Give it a week and the improvements in video technology improve exponentially for a cell phone.

I got a digital camera that takes damn good pictures. I bought it about 4 years ago. Gotta believe a camera phone bought today from the best companies selling a camera feature on their cell phones could probably match my digital camera from 4 years ago.

We are in the age of rapid electronic improvements.

Oh and as far as photographers coming into your building and snapping 100s of pictures, you can't make it a condition that 3 of those pictures will be used on the league's website game summaries (without any "proof" or "in stock" words across it)? You can still have a link to the rest of the pictures on the photographer's website.

Let the photographer have access to the concession stand for a free "movie meal" (Coke, hotdog, and popcorn) to grease their palms into providing three of those pictures for the league website.

Not that tough folks.

Sometimes I have that problem.

Message boards are designed for mouthing off and laying out some smack.

I think there should be more Simon Cowell people on these forums when it comes to sports management issues. Here's a quote from Lou Holtz's book "Wins, Losses, and Lessons" that I agree with that can be applied to many areas of life including sports management:

A reference to Simon Cowell as stated by Lou Holtz when Lou's dad botched up Lou's wedding photos:

"He tells people the truth: some of them can't sing. The fact they've never been told this for fear of hurting their feelings is a troubling commentary on what we value today. The truth is too often suppressed in deference to feelings."

Apply this to sports management issues, Dan. It's been how many months/years that feelings have taken precedence over action and results? Hell we got the entire NIFL that can't learn, and now the CIFL.
