The OPBA is now up and running and it appears it is going to be around for awhile. It has good people running it, unlike this crazy aba.

I think the USBL next season, will really see some direct competition for players and I would not be suprised to see the ONTARIO PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION as the best league outside the CBA and the NBDL.

The were many fiascos this season in the usbl, starting with saint louis, then florence, then adirondack and the always unstable brevard.

Listen no ones loves America more than I do, I mean the American flag is flying in my office everyday, but facts are facts and we are dropping the ball on some of these minorleagues in the USA.

The USBL needs to improve their way they give out ownerships, and the ABA, well...... case closed.

Whats that song called "O Canada " ?

I'm glad there's a new Canadian league I just hope it eventually becomes national. I miss pro basketball here in Saskatoon. The only thing I'm not entirely sold on is the 3 point dunk. I guess its an interesting idea, kinda like the 4 point field goal from beyond the 50 yard line NFL Europe has. I just think it must make reffing a lot harder because you have to make a judgement call on whether the player was going for a layup or a dunk and whether to award two or three shots at the stripe. Since I'm in Saskatoon, I will probably never see a game live and never see if this makes a huge dent in the games or not, but I'm guessing that it will create a Hack-a-Shaq defence.

As for the league being a minor league, the fact they've convinced Acie Earl to sign on must mean they're doing something right. I mean if you were a former NBA player would you waste your time on a fly-by-night operation? I think his mere presence with the OPBA adds lots of credibility to the league. Something the NBL never had during its short existence in the mid-1990's. The closest they came was Roy Marble who had a cup of tea in the NBA and his tea was laced with coke and the league drug czars chased him from the league never to be seen again.

Whoa there, not so fast! The OPBA is already toast. How long did they last? Two weeks?

Ken, I hope it survives, however it has run into some difficulties.

I think I may just have to start my own league.

A franchise in Gary (owned by ken steelheads fan), a franchise in evanston ill, (owned by Craig Shamen) , a franchise in Highand Park (owned by Michael Jordan), A franchise in Waukegan ill, (owned by not so fast), A franchise in Kenosha WI. (owned by the mafia).

Hey, its a start.

Or better yet, we could all join the ABA.

B efore you dis the BREVARD BLUE DUCKS(USBL),who, admittedly, had a talent-challenged team in the 2004 season,I hope that you will keep in mind that in Mike Richman, the franchise had a leader who cared about giving the fans their moneys worth in a game experience.Among other things, the Blue Ducks were historys greatest demonstration of the value of putting Thunderstix in the hands of their fans. The Blue Ducks held 4 Thunderstix promotions in the 2004 season; they had a record of 4-0 in those games, and had the support of a raucous, intimidating home crowd that clearly rattled and terrifyed their opponents.Their record in all other games was 1-21. I dont think I have ever seen another statistical split quite like that. With this kind of innovative ownership, and an unusual level of fan support for a bad team,I can see a good future for the Blue Ducks when the product on the court improves. The local press coverage of Mr. Richmans stewardship of the Blue Ducks has been largely complimentary.
