Did the game happen. what was the score?

Yes, the exhibition game was played yesterday. Final score was Yuma 8, San Luis 1. They played 11 innings so both teams could use their entire rosters and assess players -- San Luis had an incredible 17 year-old pitcher who no-hit the Scorpions for the first four innings before Yuma got to him in the fifth. Rematch a few days from now will be in San Luis.

Thanks for the info. I read that 4 players on San Luis may be signed by Yuma. Any truth to that?

No, none of the San Luis Atleticos players are in the Yuma Scorpions' plans at the moment. Where did you read that? The 17-year old pitcher would be, but he's got colleges all over him and the rest of the Atleticos only managed one hit in 11 innings off the Scorpions and would struggle in the GBL. Now, the two teams do play again on Tuesday -- so who knows if they'll bring in some different players that have potential.
We hope they do well and draw some talented players as they are a natural feeder to the Scorpions based on their location. We did provide them with their uniforms for the season and want to support them in their efforts to succeed, but it's worrisome that the Centennial League seems to be in a bit of jeopardy now that Bob Lipp had to resign as commissioner to help his family recover from the devastation in Greenburg, Kansas (see http://www.centennial-league.com/).

I read in the Sierra Vista Herald where I got this quote from Bisbee Manager Butch Hammett: “They had nine players who tried out for the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League,” Hammett said. “I’d say at least three or four will probably make it. So they probably won’t have those guys the next time we play them. They had about 36 players on their team. We only had about 20.”
Also an interesting article about the CBL is what's happening to Lipp: http://www.svherald.com/articles/2007/06/01/sports/doc465fb9ccbef21935585718.txt
