Very bad news for the CIFL:

Their flagship franchise, the Port Huron Pirates, will leave at season's end.

They could be moving to Binghamton, Flint (heard from several Pirates fans), or another Michigan city.

One question: Why did they have to announce this at halftime? Now nobody's coming for the rest of the season!

"Way to go, Pete!"

Yes, there was no tact in that move.

But Lehigh Valley is the flagship franchise.

You think Port Huron has attendance problems? Springfield and Steubenville can't even get the players and coaches to come to the games!

The players for Springfield were not given the option of playing ONE weekend. Other than that they have showed up to every single game home and on the road. The owners that took over need some time to re-organize and finance the remainder of the season and had no option to play that weekend. The Stallion players including some of my best friends have showed up to every other game and made a committment to the owners to play on this team for the rest of the season. If you knew the mess that was left after Getys left town you would understand. Even the best players on this team have already said they will come back next year because they like the way the team is heading now under better ownership and management.
