Great article. Next ball game when you see the guy holding "The end is near" sign, he really is talking about the NIFL.

This season of the NIFL reminds me of what it felt like watching the worst movie ever made, "Leaving Las Vegas" with Nicolas Cage. I sat through two agonizing hours of watching Cage's character drink himself to death after his wife had divorced him. It's one of those chick flicks that you think is never going to end. I mean, c'mon bro! Just die already! Two hours of my life that I can never get back. Problem is, I couldn't get up and leave the theatre because I was watching it with my girlfriend.

I would think that after the last two years the NIFL will finally go under.
My predictions are as follows
F'ville, G'boro, Columbia (? about funding), go to the AIFA South
Cincy (? also funding/venue) to AIFA North
SD takes a chance and moves to AF2
Wyoming to UIFL or another league close to them.
Ft Myers to WIFL
Remember these are predictions and things could go another way, but no more NIFL, just hope the owners decide to change leagues and not close up shop. Football, you gotta love it.
GO GUARD!!!!!!!!

Ft. Meyers does not have an owner (unless you count CG)

This article is good because it lets everyone here in Fayetteville know what is really going on. We were the only ones who knew about this stuff, but now the general public can read this and know that it's the Guard who's getting screwed.

'88, I am with you on this one, the team is getting screwed.
Over the last few years, the Guard has been the target of many different views, mostly bad press and threads on here, but now maybe the public knows we are not the bad guys in all this. We might be bad a$$ on the field but we do try to treat people like we want to be treated. Maybe something will come of this and the team and F'ville will benefit in the long run.
My pick is the AIFA, first due close games and only east coast teams to deal with. By that I mean, low travel costs and what seems on the surface as owners/league officials that have standards above what we have had in the past to deal with.
Maybe we can get a Carolina division started in the AIFA to include G'boro, Columbia, Florence, Concord, Raliegh, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach, I know the last three do not have teams now but you never know, at least they had indoor places to play from what I remember.
Lets see, and always GO GUARD!!!!!

Good poster, Too bad we can't send it to the USPS or FBI for posting. I know now who to look for thru my many travels.
BTW, is the game at Columbia Friday or Sat.? Sites are conflicting about the date, we say 26th the venue and Stinger site has 25th. Can you assist?

I for one think levels of indoor sports this low (A level) PLAYERS SHOULD pay for insurance in advance. Then they know for sure they have it or not. And they shouldn't be allowed to play without it. Waivers shouldn't be allowed unless it's rec. or semi-pro level.
That being said, misrepresenting to players they have insurance when they don't is criminal. Heck, just saying "to heck with it, we'll go without insurance" is foolhardy.
Hopefully this will finally end the NIFL so the legit teams can go elsewhere. Enough already.

The last time I commented on this, I was begging for some idea that there was some sort of command and control put in place alternate to the current NIFL regime that would allow them to, say, actually function.
So the Marshals owner actually LISTENS to Shiver again?
It's a good thing that I now have a flat-screen monitor, therefore I distinctly fear the notion of banging my head against it. For every freaking hour that there isn't a new announced process/leadership/freaking computer program put in place, some piece of unsuspecting office furniture is likely to suffer. Please save my credenza!
Maybe I was generous in asserting that half the pirates would survive this.

A buddy of mine and I saw that same movie. We were laughing our heads off. Best comedy ever. And the sad thing is we did not drink a few beers beforehand.
Don't get me wrong I find alcoholism a serious matter, but when Nicholas Cage slipped and shattered some glass table and said "my back feels prickly" I almost had Pepsi coming thru my nose while choking on popcorn from laughing.
We almost walked out of the theatre after the first 20 minutes because the language and comments were filthy...but then it got funny as hell after that. It was like Animal House.
It's all a matter of perspective.

As the league’s founder and president, Shiver would be the logical choice. But when asked where Shiver is and how she can be contacted, Gary suddenly found himself at a loss for words.
“I don’t really know how to answer that, man,” he said after a long, audible sigh. “I really don’t. There are just some things I’m not at liberty to talk about, all right?”
He's not at liberty to say where CS is????? Is she in the CIA for goodness sake???? Maybe she's on the lam. Are we going to see her face on milk cartons? ("Have you seen this woman? Please call 1-800-555-NIFL.")

Her creditors, the league owners and about a dozen state insurance commissioners. Maybe some lawyers and process servers. Sounds like Buckeye Hoosier is looking for her (maybe his paycheck bounced too).

I forgot about all those. But fanwise, I doubt anyone would miss her that way.

I tried to google Shriver but I don't seem to be able to find any pictures of what CS looks like.
Anyone have a link of her mug?

"...Fisher said her suspicion was aroused on March 29 after receiving an e-mail from Shiver with instructions to have every player fill out an insurance application with a Florida firm called SCI Companies.
She was then told to return the completed forms to the league office, but not to contact the insurance company directly...." From Fayettville Observer Article.
This is real easy to figure out. Get all the insurance applications in, then you insure "X" number of players, probably 10% of the total number actually playing, then amazingly, as though a psychic was involved, the players who are injured, just happen to be in the ones who had been insured. This way the injured players get taken care of and they only pay 1/10th of the premium, instead of paying for all those who filled out an insurance form. There is no question in my mind that this is what they were up to. Smells like fraud to me.

Stephanie Fisher
05-23-2007, 08:57 PM
Fisher cut her ties with the NIFL in April amid concerns that the 16 league-owned teams were operating without workman’s compensation insurance — even though the players and coaches were being led to believe that they were adequately covered.
“Carolyn has been her own primary source of destruction for seven years, but then she brought Cleveland in and he’s made an even bigger mess of things in just seven months,” Fisher said. “Somehow they seem to find creative ways to get themselves out of trouble.”
Gary disputed Fisher’s knowledge of the situation, claiming that he’d met her only once — even though Fisher said the two spoke at least once a day for nearly three months before she decided to leave the league.
“It’s impossible for Stephanie to know the (logistics) of how this league operates in its total structure,” he said. “She knows maybe preliminary conversations.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that it is interesting that Cleveland claims that I was in the dark regarding certain situations. Yes, it is true, I met him only once and by no means would I consider it a privilege to have met him.
I have attached a spreadsheet that reflects the date, time and length of our hundreds of phone conversations that took place over a two month period of time. This doesn't reflect any of the phone records with the FL office, due to the fact that I can't be sure of who I spoke with. If you deduct the 118 one minute calls (because more than likely he didn't answer and his voicemail was full), I spent close to 15 hours total on the phone with Mr. Gary and we didn't talk about weather.

Excuse me for being insensitive ... but after all of the tricks and schemes that the NIFL has been pulling for years now it's a little hard to feel sorry for anyone who has been shistered by the NIFL this year.
C'mon people. They were pulling these stunts last year and the year before and the year before.
Teams were leaving left and right. When only 5 of 22 teams return, how can you not suspect something is up. Who cares who calls who and who said what. People have to be accountable for their actions. You let the NIFL swindle you and now you have been suckered.
Until you smarten up and stop giving this league second chances, they are going to do this over and over and over. If I was working and not receiving a paycheck and benefits, I would not work. There are enough broken promises out there to line the field and then some.
The word is out on the NIFL, so it's time to put the final nail in the proverbial coffin and drive them out of business. Enough is enough.

Keep in mind that not everyone checks the message boards, or even knows about them, until they become involved. It is hard to fault someone who wasn't investing any money for not doing extensive research.
