I don't see this happening, too many differences in the leagues. Being a Wild Things fan, I would think that a merger could possible drive the Things outta the league, not to mention smaller market teams like the Paints, etc...

I don't know how I feel about this....

On one hand...I'd sure like to poach Joliet, Schaumberg, and Eerie...but I sure wouldn't want to have our guys going up to Winnipeg and Calgary...

Also...the leagues are basically opposites of each other...right now the FL is fairly stable...though as is the Northern League....so..

I don't know...I won't pine for it, but I won't complain if we get it.

I have mixed feelings about this as well. However, I would love to see a Crosstown Classic-style game between Windy City and Schaumburg.:)

There's little chance of a merger with the FL. Defections of some NoL clubs to the league has come up again but seem to be the latest re-hash of the classic rumor (see my forums for the smokescreen (http://nlfan.yuku.com/topic/1770?page=-1) raised by the disgruntled Calgary owner yesterday).

What probably is the closest they may ever get is interleague play. That remains a problematic issue since the differences in roster rules, not to mention distances, raise questions about how "meaningful" those games should be for the respective leagues' standings.

Whatever the case, much of the future of the NoL, and any real impact(s) to the FL will come out in about two weeks during the (No.) league owners' meeting.
