Does anyone think another league like the old World Basketball League with a 6'7 height restriction would ever surface again?

I thought it was an interesting concept and was a much faster, more enjoyable game from a fans' perspective as opposed to an unlimited league. Another league like this would give white players an opportunity to play as many of the more talented players aren't nearly as tall as their African-American (or whatever is the pc term now, as I am Canadian and not too up on these things) counterparts. I'm by no means advocating a colour barrier being instituted in a league nor am I racist by any means. But sadly there are many smaller, white, Canadians that cannot play pro ball since the demise of the WBL.

Even without the colour issue, which is really not an issue at all, there are many shorter talented players out there. Unfortunately, many of these players just get lost at the ends of NBA and top European club team benches as they are towered over by much taller players. Then again does anyone think that a league like this is sort of discriminatory and akin to the Negro Leagues in baseball's past?

Yeah, African-American is the politically correct term.

I don't think it is as much a matter of height as it is a matter of having ups (leaping ability) and quickness. Chris Rock absolutely NAILS this subject in his latest live concert film now airing on HBO. Rock is also hilarious throughout the film.

Heck! The CBA is basically a short guy league. The few big guys are either former NBA, future NBA, banged-up for life, or guys life Bruno Sundov who are ALL of the beforementioned.

There is a new basketball league which begins play May 28th in the province of Ontario--the OPBA (Ontario Professional Basketball Association). Unfortunately, like so many other start-up leagues, the organizers chose to sneak-up on the communities they intend to serve. If this league lasts a season, then maybe it is the answer you are looking for.

Here's hoping, but sadly I think professional sports is dead here in Saskatoon. I'm speaking more as a fan than a player because I know if I tried out that my game would get laughed off the court. Does the OPBA have a website to speak of though?

Never mind. The OPBA turned-out to be just another under financed league. Maybe the answer you are looking for is in the ABA. They have an all Native-American team in the U.S. and an all Chinese team in Canada. An all white team, although politically incorrect, may be on the horizon.
