Hey everyone,

I know i'm excited about the start of the season. As a full ticket holder to the Skyhawks and a partial plan holder to the Jackals, i'll fully admit that i'm a bit of a baseball junkie and i've been looking forward to next week (when the exhibition games start) all winter.

I'm sure there are other Can-Am fans that read this board, so why don't we start talking baseball and get some chatter going? Win or lose (and i know i saw a lot of losing last year), i can't think of a better way to spend a summer evening than catching nine innings and still keep the board family friendly.

So what does everyone else in the other cities across the league have to say? And hey... if you're going to be at either Skylands Park or Yogi Berra Stadium, stop on by and say Hi....

Truthfully? I'm on the other end of the spectrum...

Sad, depressed and bummed out that the once proud Atlantic City Surf has been demoted to the Single A Can - Am league. Of course, I understand that AC attendance is dismissal, hence the downgrade...

Still, how can I get excited about other Can-Am League teams coming to the Sandcastle this year? The Surf had some great AtL rivalries with Camden, Somerset and Newark not too mention the hated Ducks and BlueFish.

The Surf featured some great AAA/AA quality ballplayers, too. Can-Am League players? They'll be lucky if they're ever good enough to play in the Atlantic League.

Only good news?
The Surf will clearly have the best stadium in the Can-Am League and Jeff Ball is the best front office executive in the Can-Am league.

Any chance AC could get back in the Atl League if their attendance improves?

Here is one for you all. Kyle Brault, a former University of Vermont standout was signed to a contract by North Shore and then traded to Evansville of the Frontier League. I guess Kyle didn't want to go to Indiana and retired before playing a professional game.

i can understand the disappointment about atlantic city no longer being in the atlantic league. i was honestly disappointed when the cardinals left augusta... and a bit skeptical at the idea of an independent league coming in, but the guys in this league can play. they may not be at the same level as the guys in the atlantic, but these guys are pros and there are players in the league that have been in the bigs. and once the ump yells "play ball", it's still a beautiful summer night in the park and a lot of fun indeed. maybe it's just because i'm an optimist and prefer to look at the glass half full, but can-am league, atlantic league, ny-penn league... it's all good. i'm just glad there's a team and individual players i can root for.
