Raise the white flag of surrender?:
May. 4, 2007
Port Huron Pirates 78
Miami Valley Silverbacks 19
I guess the best way to explain this ... as you keep subtracting a player from the 11 against 11 format, the variability of a blowout increases exponentially for each slight (and I emphasize slight) advantage one team has over another.
Imagine a two against two league? The final scores would be 212 to 6 for a two man team having a slight advantage over their two-men opponent -- an extremely narrow histogram of competitive scores.
I guess economics will ultimately decide whether the CIFL continues if they don't change their game system/talent parity immediately to account for this fact. The pied piper (laws of economics concerning supply and demand) will prevail.
Glad I didn't go to Hobart last night. At least this year's humbled Dragons stayed within two stops of the Destroyers last night. New York sucks. Columbus is in the upper 25% of the league. We did not get a blowout. Yes, I would have preferred more stops on defense and more of an effective running attack, but at least I didn't see a massacre at Hobart.

In talking with someone that was at that game last night, the talent advantage Port Huron held wasn't slight, or anything that closely resembled it.
Look, no one's denying (outside of the basement of the 4150 Professional Building in North Canton, Ohio) that there's a problem, but you're misidentifying it. The Pirates are one of the three best teams in indoor football, and the CIFL might not have another team in the top 20.

Looks like the 2 trolls are at it again. If either one of you would like to "rewrite" rules so our game can be "more entertaining" feel free to do so. Coming on here and seeing comment after comment regarding our league and how our play sucks gets real old. I would maybe have a different opinion if the comments were coming from someone that is bitter at the league because his services were something I didnt care for, and his troll friend.

Eric, you have to admit that blowouts are fairly common in the CIFL. And they're not very entertaining, even if you're team is the one that's doing the hammering.
Something else that's becoming more common is CIFL officials blasting messageboard "trolls." While that IS entertaining, it's not very professional.

No, Eric, I'm not interested in rewriting your rules. I already wrote them once.
While you're whining at the "trolls" and looking like a fool at the same time (again), could you get all the scores from last night on the CIFL site?
And to answer your question from awhile ago on IM: no, I'm not bitter you guys didn't beg me to come back (though you did ask how much money it would take for me to come back shortly thereafter; I appreciated that). I wouldn't have resigned if that wasn't my intention; that's just not intelligent at this level. I am saddened, though, that the league has regressed since my departure.

If the camaraderie between myself and the league office existed from the get-go I'd show up either right now and/or in the offseason and help out with experimenting with the game system.
I don't have access to game tape of games already played to agree with exit322 that Port Huron is a mega talent team. I just find that hard to believe. I'm sure his comments are sincere and he could very well be correct, I just find that to be extremely hard to believe. Exit322's comments don't hold water (my thesis) because Rochester turns around and blows out teams a few rankings spots below Rochester.
EDITED: Noticed the rest of the week's scores are quite good. When I get time I'll check into why.

Better matchups. NY/NJ and Summit County got to play one-another (congrats Revs on your first win, though the league site still lacks the score).
The only surprising score was Muskegon/Kalamazoo - Muskegon impressed me even in losing.
Lehigh Valley always (except against ROC/PH, but that's most teams) plays close games.
Rochester could be in an overall indoor football top 20, but they'd be low teens. The CIFL has some good teams, but there are some stinkers in there. Summit County would have trouble against half the NIFL's traveling squads (NY/NJ is actually a relatively solid team if they could just get a consistent passer in there).

Has your message board gone to an "awaits the moderator's approval" format yet?

Nice, Eric. Nice.
The game recaps are very good, but your stats are a week behind. It'd also be cool to see some photos on your site as well. Just trying to be helpful.
