“The ABA has tarnished minor league professional basketball throughout this country,” Krinsky said. You and Joe Newman are from the same mold! A broken mold that should be thrown out and replaced. Your due dilligence for considering someone for a franchise.....Do you have a cell phone?, Do you have a place to play, Great you are in. Just sign here. You now own an offical USBL franchise. Congradulations!!!!! Head of Basketball operations and where are you this weekend? Albany flies in to play the Wildcats and you could have saved them the planefare $$$$$. You knew they were out of business on Friday. And if you knew anything, you would have known long before that. This owner has no money and he has judgements just like your league!

Ok, seriously, You make three separate threads all about the demise of the Wildcats? You claim they are dead? Not a single article has said this yet.

In fact the most recent information regarding the Wildcats would state the opposite.

Coming Up: USBL Games Relocated (http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070421/SPORTS02/704210358/1063)

OKLAHOMA AT JACKSON

So first of all, though things are going wrong the team is dead yet. Second, Krinsky had no way of knowing that the Wildcats ownership was gonna shaft the Coliseum on their obligations (assuming that is what happened). "The ABA has tarnished minor league professional basketball," if only because new ownership groups can easily get an idea that ctap like that is ok.

Not all the new teams are bogus anyway. I honestly do not think that the Wildcats were trying to do this. I would like to believe that it is a big mixup, (maybe I am to easy). The fact is, they should have had these things ironed out. They should have been certain of everything and they should have better informed patrons. They made a mistake but they are still trying, nothing ever said that they were not paying their venue, team, coach. They simply failed to provide insurance and a new floor. Perhaps they should have had better communication. The point is though, don't condemn, especially when you do not have all the facts, and when you ignore them.

Dead or not, Jackson handled this EXTREMELY poorly. (And if they only have 45 season ticket holders and only 100 showed up for the opener why would they play? Who is checking to see if these towns WANT BASKETBALL?)

The owners, coaches and/or players should have been there to meet those 100 or so fans who ventured to the arena. They should not have been greeted by a message on the door.

It's Krinsky's job --- or somebody's in the front office --- to know what's going on with their 8 remaining franchises. They should be putting in EXTRA work to make sure this stuff doesn't happen.

And what about the schedule mixup? That should have been addressed long ago.

Did I hear there were only about 250 fans for the Cagerz at Gary game? Man, that's awful and disappointing. A 3-0 team playing host to a team they haven't yet faced.

You be the judge. This is a photo of some of Friday's crowd (Gary vs. Albany). The crowd is almost the same as Thursday night except Friday quite a few more people planted their behinds near where I plant mine (unseen in photo). Remember, attendance is reported as paid attendance. Who knows what the paid attendance was on either night!?!

Jackson is far from dead. The owner is simply far from reality. That's all. He never should have booked a 6,500 seat venue and agreed to purchase a basketball floor. I had one eyebrow raised (if only I had the muscle control) when I first read that. The rec center where the Wildcats have temporarily relocated is probably their best (permanent) bet. Sometimes an owner must check their ego at the door and accept reality.

But somebody from the league has to work with these guys. His proposal should have put out a major warning light to the league.

If only 100 people were turned away, then it's hard to imagine them making it through an entire season.

or are they still in Gary?

The one thing I would agree about is the schedule thing. The league did an abselutely terrible job with it.

If you go to the actual schedule page (http://www.usbl.com/schedule.php) on the USBL website it says that the Patroons were supposed to play Gary today at 8:00pm and than play at Jackson at 8:05pm somehow I find that impossible. They did post a schedule change (http://www.usbl.com/currentNews.php?news_id=215) that states that the Patroons play Gary tomorrow.

I agree that the league needs to better work with the Wildcats ownership and make sure things are done right, but I also think that the Wildcats had some big dreams for their first season. Starting out in a rec center would be a much better way to test the waters. See if fans catch on and than move to the Colliseum if needed. Oh well, I just hope they get things worked out and that their miniscule fanbase doesn't drop them.

This is from today's Jackson paper. I'm sorry but the officials NEED TO COMMENT. And they don't know if there will be an admission charge? Puhlease give me a break.
--------------------------
The Jackson Wildcats apparently are playing their home opening basketball game tonight against the Albany (N.Y.) Patrons at Mississippi Basketball and Athletics.

MBA officials say the game is set for 7 p.m. They did not know if admission would be charged at the 400-seat facility on Westbrook Road in northeast Jackson.

Wildcats officials, including owner Carlos Moore, would not comment.

------------------------------------

Of course, maybe he should be silent. This is what he told the same paper just a couple weeks ago: Dallas businessman Carlos Moore, the Wildcats' owner and president, says he truly believes the team will draw 5,000 to 6,000 fans a game.

You truly believe that ... and you have 100 at your season opener! Who in the heck laid out the marketing plan for this franchise?
