Alexandria, LA - The Alexandria Aces of United League Baseball (ULB) announced today they have signed outfielders Selwyn Langaigne, Marcus Lewis, pitchers Donnie Bridges, Justin Dowdy, Adam Frey, and Justin Garcia to their 2007 roster.

Bridges was a first-round selection of the Montreal Expos in the 1997 Major League Baseball draft, the 23rd overall pick at the age of 19. Bridges reached AA Harrisburg in 2000 and pitched six seasons at the AA level or higher, including AAA stints with Ottawa in 2001 and New Orleans in 2005. The Purvis, Mississippi resident has a career ERA of 4.54, almost exclusively as a starter.

The 27-year-old Garcia is in his fourth professional after making his professional debut in 2004 with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, Garcia played with Fort Worth in 2005 and the first part of 2006. He went 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA last year with 18 relief appearances. Garcia struck out 28 batters in 27.1 innings in 2006 with the Aces. In his career, Garcia is 7-9 with a 4.43 ERA. Garcia, played college baseball at Grayson Junior College in Texas, where he won back-to-back national junior college season championships, and NAIA Lubbock Christian University.

Lewis, a switch-hitting outfielder, enters his second season in professional baseball with the Aces. Last season he hit for a .276 average, while stealing 31 bases in splitting time between the Aces and the Amarillo Dillas. Lewis completed his collegiate career with NAIA school Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas. Lewis hit .364 in 2005 with the Chaparrals and reached base at a .436 clip. He led the Sooner Athletic Conference with 44 stolen bases in 50 attempts. A Garland, Texas product, Lewis played two years at Prairie View A&M University and one year at Texas Tech University.

A native of Las Acaias, Venezuela, Langaigne returns to the Aces for his 14th season in professional baseball. Originally signed by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993, Langaigne spent nine seasons in the Blue Jays organization making it to AAA Syracuse. Prior to joining the Aces late in the year, he was a member of Poza Rica of the Mexican AAA League, where he hit for .311 average in 107 games. While with the Aces, Langaigne played in 17 games hitting .345, with two home runs and 14 RBI. For his career, he has a .282 average to go along with 39 homeruns and 501 RBI.

The 6’5” rookie right hander, Frey enters his first full season in minor league baseball. Last season, Frey appeared in 15 games for the Aces, posting a 4-1 record with a stellar 1.93 ERA in helping the Aces capture the United League Championship. A native of Austin, TX, Frey attended Trinity University in Texas.

Left-handed closer, Dowdy returns to Alexandria, after going 3-1 with 7 saves and a 2.25 ERA with the Aces last season. Prior to joining the Aces staff, Dowdy spent time with Calgary of the Northern League, where he appeared in 19 games, posted a 2-2 record and 4.45 ERA. He began his professional career as an 18th round draft pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 2001 amateur draft. This will mark the seventh season in professional baseball for the San Diego, CA native.

The Alexandria Aces are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is preparing for its second season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007. Opening Day for all of United League Baseball is May 8, 2007.
