Someone made a comment about a Sea Dogs vs. Aces game that was good. It begs the question..."Were there any games watched this year that stick in your mind?"
I know the season opener for the Jam and the Aces at Univ. of North Florida was INCREDIBLE! We (the Aces) lost by a 3 pointer with like 8 seconds left, after climbing back from a 20 point deficit (thanks to Alex Hill's own 10 point 2-minute drill)

-I remember on Jan 5th, Rochester came to Buffalo, we were w/o Kueth Duany(injured) Keith Closs(not signed yet, but we had Johnny Tyson who later went to the JAM) and another 6"8 guy that was injured and we played Rochester tight the whole game, in the 1st i remember we were down by close to 20 pts and we stormed right back cutting the lead to single digits going into the half, then the 2nd half was back and forth, and then finally with 10 sec left Buffalo was down by 2, heres what happened, and remember this is all in 10sec, first we our NBA-pro summer league dunk champ missed a dunk, went off the back of the rim, then our best shooter made the shot but a foul was called on the ground before it made it, then our best player Lamar Castile got an alley-oop layup opportinity with 1.8 sec left and it rolled right out of the rim, for a sec i thought it was in and we were goin to OT but then it jus rolled right out, and i also remember the officiating was terrible, absoultely terrible for both teams, but eventhough we lost it was a great game, with Kueth we wouldve won, we beat Roch. when he played and when he didnt we lost heart breakers like this
-Then on Feb 21 against the Vermont Frostheaves, i witnessed Buffalo take down the #1 team, Lamar Castile scored 45 pts and hit 7 3-pointers, Kueth was back and fully healthy and Closs was providing awesome defense for us, this was one of two games that we didnt play at our normal venue for a few reasons and the crowd was full of around 500-600 people that have never seen this team play and they were excited and loud and showed that they really like what they saw, it was jus a great game for the fans and for the team

In this rec-league, any game that started and actually finished is memorable.

Let's see....
12-16-06..In Burlington vs the Razorsharks..Down by 7 with under 30 seconds..Cook ties the game, we go to overtime and win 96-93
New Year's weekend- in Barre vs the Frenzy. Come from 10 down(?) to beat Cape Cod (they played 2 that weekend)
1-10-07 In Burlington vs Buffalo. A physical game that came down to a controversial goaltending call with under a minute to play. Beat Buffalo 92-90
2-16-07 In Burlington against Mayryland. Came back in the 4th to beat the Nighthawks 113-104 (added bonus of being the 13th player for the game)
3-11-07 In Quebec City vs Kebs. Came back from 14 down with under 4:00 to play in the 4th. Cook ties the game with less than 5 seconds left with a 3. Win in overtime 101-99.
3-29-07 Championship vs Texas. Not because of the blowout. Was so incredible because of the crowd. That's what made it memorable.

Although there's still some questions as to whether this game was actually played by both teams, or with one team and a squad of community center game-day hires, there was that contest in Detroit where the Panthers beat Toledo 191-66.
That's right. 191-66. Detroit putt'near tripled their opponent's score.

Also, all of the Utica Wreckers games were memorable, too!
WHAFAN...that is too funny! What's so funny about it is the reality - games don't get played, and it's not a big deal. The big deal is getting the count of how many don't get played now! That doeasn't bode well for the ABA!

My pick, by default (the only game I made it to this season), was the 1/20/07 game between the Detroit Panthers and Rochester Razorsharks. With a few seconds on the clock the score was tied 96-96 and Rochester inbounded the ball at their own end. I assumed Detroit would either lose or the game would go to OT. The Panthers had enough foresite to keep one player at their end. Sure enough, the Panthers were able to steal the ball and pass it down to the player waiting alone under their net. An easy lay-up as time expired gave the Panthers the 98-96 victory. I had a good time and was entertained during the entire game, and even during halftime when the second person in the half court shot contest nailed it. I couldn't help but think, if this team did even a little bit of marketing, they might actually have something here. The quality and entertainment was there but, if virtually no one who isn't friends or family of the team knows that they exist, does it matter?
