Well the IBL has got alot stronger as Former Utah Jazz Byron Russell, former UCLA star and Phoenix Suns Toby Bailey, and former 9th pick overall of Dallas and former NBA champion with the LA Lakers Samaki Walker have signed to play for Santa Barbara.

3 more NBA vets entering the league? WOW

Will they actually produce or just there to draw fans such as the case with Cedric Ceballos in PHX and Sean Higgins in Vegas?

Russell and Bailey both played in the ABA this year as well, and listened when my team the Buffalo Silverbacks played Toby Bailey's team(Beijing)and he was a very good player and a hustler and will be a big factor on that team

Russell played with the Hollywood Fame in the ABA, didnt hear much bout him cept that hes good for 12-20 a night

And Samaki Walker, well he didnt play in the ABA, but he did make the NBA so id imagine he will be pretty decent for Santa Barbara

Thats 3 good pick ups for that team

oo and i believe Ceballos played in the ABA as well lol, i guess these guys just keep playin basketball all year round cos they love the game, thats what makes minor league bball fun to watch

But Sean is also assisting coach the Stars and has already seen playing minutes. Ceballos hasn't seen minutes yet.

My understanding is these NBA players will play in the home games only. At least they will play, unlike Ceballos in Phoenix.

im pretty sure thats what Russell did with the Hollywood Fame in the ABA this year, didnt travel, jus played at home

i think a guy like Russell after playing in the NBA for a LONG time and making very good money, playin minor league ball is jus recreation, help young players out that are tryin to get to the NBA, and coach a team with the experience and knowledge from playin in the NBA

That's an interesting idea to play only at home, but doesn't that throw off team chemistry on the court? Unless you play the majority of your schedule at home, you wouldn't get used to playing with him.

Having any former NBA players on your roster is a boost for an independent minor legue team. Especially if that player has a recognizable name.

People will come out to a game if the NBA player is promoted properly. He does not do you any good if no one has any way of knowing he is on your team.

I remember Toby Bailey in college. I always thoiught he would have a long career in the NBA. Sometimes, things don't work out the way you imagined.
