View Full Version : How hard could it be

...to send-out a press release and hold a draft party. I see a couple of teams have done so as of this posting (3:15pm C.S.T., the day before the draft)--the Storm and the Steelheads. How expensive could it be to hold such a party? It's a slow bar night. The bar owners will be happy to have you. If the place has a WiFi connection, than that's even better. If not, then 25 feet of ethernet cable should do the trick. What, no broadband connection? Surely, the bar has an available phone line somewhere. Fifty feet of telephone cord and a dial-up modem will get the job done also.
Why would a USBL team pass-up on an almost cost free opportunity like this to promote their organization?!? It boggles the mind (at least it boggles my mind).
The Midwest teams typically have them. The teams out East don't because they might draw more fans than their games.
Cagerz are having one. Just cause the press release doesn't show up on the USBL or OSC sites doesn't mean they're not happening.
What befuddles me is that the USBL office doesn't send out a press release with a complete draft order, etc., names of the teams' new coaches and maybe have something about whether there truly is a team in Boston.

Yeah, but how hard can it be to send a press release to the OSC to let the rest of the world know about the Cagerz draft party? There might be Cagerz fans elsewhere, obviously not here in Gary ;), but there could be others throughout the midwest interested in shooting the breeze at the Cagerz draft party. Mind you, a press release may still be forthcoming--kinda late, but one could still be on the horizon.
Cagerz have always had draft parties....Dodge had them when I was there, but I don't think they have had them the last year or two...It is a perfect way to start the season at basically no cost to the team. Also gotta realize that while OSC is a great site for those of us that know about it...the Cagerz have never posted their stuff on here....but the local newspaper there has always done a great job of getting the word out about the team...

Cagerz have never sent out press releases. ... and I can't imagine there being more than 5 or 6 transplanted Cagerz fans in the world.
Tonight's draft party turnout will be about 15.
Hey, but I'll be one of them!

Oh, and there is a story in today's Salina Journal about the draft. I'd be happy to fax it to you because I don't think it's available on-line.

..they have the Patroon Room bar. Do like Syracuse, where they have a "pick your seat" night and party, and sell season tickets. It's a college team, so there isn't a draft, but the draft would be perfect. Particularly seeing they drafted three local players, at least one of them could have been there.

The Patroons didn't have a draft party?
Gary's draft party was at the Diamond Center in right field of the baseball park. As a matter of fact, there was a college baseball game going on at the ballpark at the same time. The Genesis Center also has a bar area (Red Ribbon Lounge) where the party could be held, but as you can see from my photos in another thread and from the video clips that the Diamond Center is quite a nice place to hold affairs.
