Lets all post our policies here. Limit your posts to 2 policies that ether are for getting to own a team or what is expected of an owner when the season gets going.
And try to do this as real suggestions...not to mock the ABA or any other league.

-Back-Round check on the owners and they have to have "x" amount of dollars of income per year and good credit etc.... ultimately to be able to pay fees, travel, players, venues etc...
-Teams must complete all scheduled games, if not there will be fees and you will forfit the game
Has anyone on here heard any rumors at all on possible teams joining the PBL, well i can tell ya that the Buffalo Silverbacks are a little skeptical about the league, and are not really front runners to join as of now, as in the future will they join? idk, i think i said in another post that i will hopefully be meeting with my connections and ill bring up the league in conversation

Participation in the playoffs is mandatory if you are invited.

Nothing keeps a team honest like posting a performance bond. Even if its 50,000. But then again, Joe did Cash Long Beach's bond in 2001 and the long beach owner had to go to court to get some of it back.
I doubt Buffalo will be in the new league, the Buffalo owner works for Joe now.

please elaborate on this, i know the Buffalo owner, and id like to know why you would say that he works for Joe
and i'll be honest with ya guys, i mentioned the PBL to the owner very broad and brief in a conversation last week and hes not like "yeahh lets go PBL, woo hoo" hes skeptical about it and not 100% sure about it
and i love the Silverbacks, and really could care less what league theyre in, as long as they suceed, and provide great games to watch, im happy! The Rochester games were awesome, and Detroit games were good too, and when i saw us beat Vermont, that was another exciting game and great basketball was being played, im a fan of a basketball team, not the league, id personally like to see us make the jump, but idk, ill have to speak with my connections soon to see whats up

I have a crazy idea for a new league. How about this??
- teams play out the full schedule
- people in the stands who get counted and totals passed on to the public
- owners who don't forget the password to their own team website
- no more novelty gimmicks for entertainment
- scrap the ever popular dance teams that no one sees anyway
One more nutty idea.........in each division where teams are close to each other, rent one nice arena and have all the division teams play there. All teams pitch in for rent, and all teams split profits. Designated home teams 60%, road teams 40%. No more travel woes, teams disappearing because of expenses, everyone wins!!

The folks in the stands in Wilmington did watch the dance team and it was part of the experience that made me want to come back to the game for money after I used my free promotional ticket.
I don't see dance teams as making the ABA less legit or detracting from the basketball.

I have heard from someone on the conference call that the Buffalo owner admitted that he helped Joe through the attempted coup. He also didn't seem to be in favor of any owners committee attempting to help improve the league. His answer to those owners who asked what they could do: buy stock! He conveniently forgot to mention that Mr. Newman and Mr. Tinkham control over 50 percent of the league stock.

Actually I dont think any astute investor doing the proper research would invest in the ABA at the moment. I would class it as an "Emotional" stock. (Defining it as a stock only purchaced in small amounts to create an emotional bond to the "sport" "league" "cause", etc.)
two cents

yea im not really sure why you would want to purchase stock in the ABA, maybe he did forget the fact that Joe and Dick own more than 50% of the stock like preeths said earlier, idk, im not his finacial advisor, as long as the team plays and does well im fine, like i said before

to answer your question.
The buffalo owner gets a salary from Joe to promote the ABA stock. He also has lots of shares of ABA stock Joe gave him. Im not sure of the amount but I will try and find out.
I believe he was on Joes side instead of Doyles side because Doyle had some information from the SEC on the Buffalo owner. He had his trading privilidges suspended. Doyle did not want to use him because of his problems with the SEC. BUT, as I have said before....birds of a feather.......

Thanks "a1" for answering my question, and i think you might be right about our owner and the trading privalidges or w/e, i believe that was way back, not recent but i think ur right on that one
so since you seem to be right, i dont find it that hard to believe your posts and rumors anymore
- And Since i know my Silverbacks arent big on the PBL and skeptical and arent front runners to join the PBL, have u heard any other potential teams making the jump?

huh seems like there will be more new expansion teams rather than existing ABA teams to join, with the exception of Roch, MD, Minn, and Ark, think any others will jump?
do you think that this is the PBL's plan, to have more expansion teams rather than an ABA team that appears to be moving in the right direction

I'm a Dakota Wizards fan of the D-League so I don't really pay attention to the ABA, but I was reading this and I am curious as to which team did this.

just curious, how did the SeaDawgs do in attendance in their first season?
No idea. The local media don't seem to be aware they're in town and the SeaDawgs didn't announce attendance figures the two games I was at.
I saw, at a SeaDawgs home game was printed at over 600. To me, that's pretty good. I got that figure from the online version of their paper.

If the team hadn't given away tickets to their playoff game, I wouldn't have known they were even here. I enjoyed that game against the Aces so much that when (thanks to forfeiture) they got a second home game, I went.

Personal opinion- as in "it's my half-witted thought, and you can't have it."
You've been beaten into submission after following this for too long if you think 600 is a good crowd for a nationwide league.
You can beat me up over this now.
is entitled to their opinion. When I said 600 is a good crowd, I meant decent, as in better than 200. Of course it's nothing like a thousand or better. But it is a good base to grow on. Of course, that also depends on the size of the facility that team is playing in. imo

agreed with psbf on this one, your not gona make money on 600, but its a start, could pay some bills depending on cost of the venue though

It's a start in a facility of 1,000 or less.
People have certain expectations of pro teams. They notice if they're in small crowds. If they doubt the stability of a team, no matter what the owner says, they will limit their investment in the team. The team either adjusts or suffers.
I guess I did not even know there was an ABA league, the Sioux Falls Skyforce was in the CBA for quite a few years now there in the D-League this year. They are starting to build there attendance back up they are averaging between 3,000 to 4,000 a game. Back a few years before Isai Thomas almost ruined the CBA they were averaging 5,000+. Isai Thomas was mainly the reason for the attendance drop the few years he owned it. I read some of the posts does the ABA really have 50 to 60 teams?
have been around since at least the 94/95 season. I have my Piranhas program here and a list of all the teams in the league that year. Sioux Falls played at 6,500 seat Sioux Falls Arena, so if they had over 5,000 on average, the Arena was almost full. We played them, I have one of their ticket stubs.

That was a great game, huh lightening? I was the head coach that night. That game was intense. I told our guys after the game...if I had 1 or 2 more guys to put into the line-up and provide more rest, we would have won.
The Sea Dogs full-court pressed us the WHOLE GAME!!! It was one of my toughest games to coach, and we actually played with a lot of character.

As I recall you cut your deficit down to a basket in the fourth quarter before the Sea Dawgs rallied to win. I hope the Aces can continue to make a go of it.

Yeah...I think my technical foul cost us the game, because the momentum totally changed. I accidentally (Honest...it was n accident) yelled in a refs ear about a call, because the press your team put on us was REALLY aggressive (very smart coaching, I might add, against a team with 6 guys).
I really thought we were going to win that game. It was a long road back to FL!
