Scanning the internet.... PBLlive.com. One page so far?

also in telecommunications world news.... Vonage to sign sponsorship agreement with new basketball league, the PBL.

so far looks like this league will be the opposite of the ABA, organized and owners with money.

If the league has at least 16 teams why haven't they been announced?

...because there is going to be a PBL meeting soon (in the next month or so) where several key figures expressing interest will be given a good idea about how the league will operate, etc.

There are more than 16 teams that want to join...just need to weed them out. From my source:

"If an owner doesn't have the money than they can't be a part! No hard feelings, but if you don't have the money to fund a team for a season, you just can't play!"

What about Rules, regulations and By Laws? Are the rules in place? Is the meeting designed to share the by laws with potential investors? Are compromises going to be hammered out? Why are these guys still talking about money and not regulations? It seems to me that with a solid organizational structure in place the bad apples would pass on joining due to the leagues formal designs. Using the term "weed out" seems a bit personnel to me. Laws define what the rules are, weeding out is a subject term used to remove something already in place. If rules were in place to begin with no bad apples would need to be removed. This is crazy, they are attacking each already.

I think I used a bad term - weed out. Sorry. Basically, the league wants to make sure everyone that is in the league is able to play the whole season. That's what I was saying. There are already 16 solid teams that have proven their financial capabilities. Other teams want to join, but they have to be stable, otherwise they are not in. Thus...that is why the teams haven't been announced.

it's nice that their sponsor is in trouble themselves...

Internet phone company Vonage Holdings Corp. will be barred from signing up new customers as punishment for infringing on patents held by Verizon Communications Inc., under an injunction ordered Friday.

The injunction was to take effect Thursday, but the company was granted a temporary stay from U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., which will allow Vonage to sign up new customers until the court rules on its appeal.

I imagine Vonage are too big a company these days to let this slow them down. If it does not go to appeal, they will settle.

they had to pick "PblLive.com" a copycat of "ABALive"....??

not too original. I thought they wanted to distance themselves from the ABA!

It definitely makes sense. I'm sure the league's founders didn't even want the name to be released when it was, but the Razorsharks were forced into a situation where they needed to provide some details. I'm sure they want to make a real splash, and having all of your ducks in a row is the way to do it and really separate the league from the ABA. Have everything lined up with the sixteen teams, then make the announcement that includes divisional alignments, rules, etc. There's no need to release anything of that nature to the public now--there's no advantage in doing that from a business perspective.

They don't want to wait too long. Teams have to market.

Agreed. But it's only a week after the season ended. Even further, assuming most are ABA teams, they'll just carry on business-as-usual until the announcement is made. They can still sell seats and the like. Even further, if anything were to fall apart with this proposed league, those teams still have to option to stay or look at other leagues. Don't get me wrong, I'm not proposing that they wait until late September. But, it's April; they still have some time.
