i just found out that tye gibson left the stingers as defensive coordinator..let me tell you that tye is very smart and will not hang around if you jerk his chain....i have not spoken to him, but player said he left because of a run-in with pewonski.....tye told me he was assured that this team had money and he would hang around, now that he is gone......i wonder how much longer the stingers will be around....apparently there is trouble withg pewonski brewing...

The last time a Pewonowski owned team faced off against another franchise he used to run, last season when Greensboro came to Osceola, Osceola won 44-0 with Marquette Smith and his players pouring it on against their former owner, getting a little revenge.

Penwonski still owns G'boro.
Does Columbia have turf? If not, I wonder if Toni will bring G'boro turf down to Columbia to save some money?
(I think the G'boro Coliseum owns the turf though)

Columbia had turf from Florence tonight.
At least we're getting closer...lol.

If only that turf actually covered our arena. We had placemats in the end zones. :D
On the other hand, and this is MY opinion, if you're able to borrow or rent turf from neighboring teams, especially for an expansion team that doesn't have a proven track record of profitability, it's a great way to keep your costs down so you can meet payroll and facility fees. (not that I think that's what the reasoning behind not having their own turf is) It's just a thought I had this evening.
And Florence's turf looked nice. LOL

Florence's turf is only 2 years old.
Since it's the second home game in 3 weeks and still renting turf, it seems like it could an issue where Pewonski doesn't want to buy turf.

I'm beginning to think that every dollar made in Columbia is being spent on his other teams that aren't drawing a crowd. If you spend it as fast as you earn it, you won't be able to buy turf, equipment, pay players, etc etc....
Pewonski is about to screw up big here in Columbia. You have to invest in your team to make them successful. You have to pay your players if you agreed to pay them when they were signed.
This team has had 2 home games and attendance was pretty good both times. My little fan site forum is buzzing today after last night's game, and it shows that people are interested in the sport. If he screws these fans, it may likely kill interest in ANY league that wants to resurrect a team in Columbia. (yes....i'm seeing the light)
That said, I still think the team is doing an admirable job and you can tell they want to win. They want to be successful. The fans want the same things...it's a crying shame that the owner apparently does not.

it is sad....same thing has happened in charleston....we had 2 teams there both folded....it's hard to fill seats when they see a team come in for one season and pack up and leave......they need to somehow finish this season and hopefully get new investors and owners to remain in columbia.

The NIFL is just going through and raping markets so indoor/arena football will never come back. It appears that if a market doesn't want the NIFL then no one will have a team. Thus, screwing every market with bad teams, con men, and semi-pro impostors.
