Filipino team gets crushed by 30+ by The Hollywood Fame

The Hollywood Fame led the whole game and were led by Dino Tanner, Lamar Gayle and Mo Spillers...

It was great exposure for The Hollywood Fame since the Philippines are always looking for quality imports.

If you look at the pictures on that guy's website linked in the last post, you can see that the basketball court is set up in the middle of the velodrome.

The ADT Events Center, which is part of the Home Depot Center complex, has a basketball court in the middle of it (unless the photos are faked).

funny, Sam. I take my work seriously, and I work in soccer. L.A.sports knows more about the place than I do, but I've seen and read about the place. As I said once before, maybe they had a tempory place set up. But I'm telling you what I know. It just sounded weird to me, playing Basketball in a facility that is not built for the sport.

The home depot center is a sports complex that trains the US soccer team, US tennis, LA Galaxy.

They also house AThletes Performance and Abunnassar Impact basketball.

Athletes performance has been on ESPN every day talking about training athletes for the upcoming NFL draft... ABunassar Impact basketball has a traiing site there as they do in Las Vegas and Florida. There are two basketball courts set up at the velodrome (bycicle racing facility) The Hollywood Fame played their second game against the Philippines yesterday and they did beat them by over 30.

For you to think that the Home depot center only houses soccer shows that you dont do your research

The place does have a basketball court with drop down from the ceiling rings and also has the pro basketball rims. Been there 4 different times. And yes its in the middle of the track area.

I believe I know you on at least two other boards. You get this way a lot... and it doesn't have to happen.

In this case, taking another poster's word as gospel did you in. Message boards are not documents of record. I'm guilty of occasional guesswork and semi-deductive reasoning. Mostly, these are used to have fun. Unless you see a point you know to be true, a little research and investigation is in order.

Of course, if someone associated with the NIFL requests you do more research, the logical retort is "WITH WHAT!?!?"

Acquiring players from other team and allowing them to play on the 2nd game against the same players of the other team who played in their first game is really lame... ..The 2nd game was a game of fatigue bodies vs fresh legs then....

Zoomair, I think you're the only one that cares about this game. You have a foreign NATIONAL TEAM playing an ABA team. What does that tell you? Of course the national team should be better. Even if they played a completely different ABA team the second night (which, yes, would mean "fresh" bodies), your national team should have still beat them big. The average ABA team (excluding Vermont, Jacksonville, and a few others) are just glorified rec league teams.

It really shows the quality of your national team if they come over to the U.S. and decide to take on ABA teams for their competition.

The Filipino National Team is lame, got it? Your team is supposed to be comprised of the best players from your entire nation. The Fame are comprised of a washed up ex-NBA player and a bunch of guys that play pickup basketball down at the YMCA.

I'm not sure what the point of your post was. Yes, I do follow the LA sports scene, including minor-league sports. I've been to the Home Depot center for a variety of sports in the past. I'm not sure what your point is.

How long was the Phillipine (please forgive me if you find the "American spelling" a bit off-putting) team training together before these games?

As a soccer fan, I've seen club teams beat national teams on more than one occasion. The club team's players, in every case, were more familiar with each other and knew how to blend with each other better.

How long? they've been together for 3-4 mos. now...our players came from different ball clubs as well, different teams in a pro league...just like the nba, they put together their superstars and practice for about 4 mos and compete in intl competition..still bring home bronze...it doesnt mean coz theyre pro, they play in the NBA theyre unbeatable....just like our guys, yes they shld win big time against guys who plays in ymca or aba but this is basketball, it takes team chemistry, its a team sports, so i agree with you if superstars can be beaten by aba level kind of players as well....my point is these players from back home have something in common with nba players as well when it comes to Intl competition...THEY LACK TIME AND TEAM CHEMISTRY VS. PLAYERS WHO WERE TRAINED AND PLAYED EACH OTHER FOR MANY YEARS (i.e. Argentina, Spain) SO ITS OVERRATED IF WE EXPECT THEM TO BEAT SMALL TIME PLAYERS JUST LIKE THAT....
