Got this from the ABA All Access radio program.
1. Owner is a good friend of Charles Key, as is cglue (Houston Takers owner)
2. Will play in three venues;
Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Suns' first home as well as that of the IBL's Phoenix Flame)
Tim's Toyota Center (Home of the CHL's Arizona Sundogs-in Prescott)
A certain venue in the town of (sounded like "eager" but can't spell the name), it's supposed to be close to New Mexico and El Paso.
3. NBA great Alton Lister will be head coach.
4. Website (http://www.phoenixphantoms.com) should be up within two months.
5. It's spelled with an "S," not a "Z"

They really ought to change the name of the team to the Arizona Phantoms then. Veterans Coliseum has a history of failed sports franchises. Every minor league team placed there has folded within 5 years. The town name is Eagar and the venue name is the Round Valley Dome.

They do hope to build a new exclusive venue soon-like the H-town Takers.
Outside the Phoenix city limits, but in the metro PHX area.
But you're right, they should be the Arizona Phantoms then.

Where are the going to build it? Good real estate is tough to come by these days in AZ. BTW I belive the coliseum is in Phoenix, but whatever, it's on the state fairgrounds and they hold cattle and animals in the other part of it.

1.) Why would Alton Lister want to leave a secure coaching position at Mesa Community College in order to coach an ABA team that most likely will not even last through a season.
2.) Why would the team choose three different venues. The travel cost between those venues would be outrageous. Might as well make three different teams.
I think that PHX is a great potential market for a minor league basketball team. The Flame of the IBL will be kicking off its season April 6. We will see how they do. I would defenitely like to see a minor league team of better calibur (such as CBA/D-League) enter the PHX area in the near future.

It has been proven that minor league teams simply don't last in major markets. I give the team about a month.

I've heard that Alton Lister will not be leaving his position as the Mesa Community College Head Coach! Don't know where the team will stand on that note, but they have also taken all of their info off of the ABA website.
ABA and the City of Phoenix:
2 attempts in last 3 years, not a single game played!
WEAK!

Looks as though the Phantoms will not be starting in 2007-2008, but have been moved to an expansion team on the ABA website.
I'm curious to see what will happen with the Tucson team as well.
If anyone else in Arizona is looking at starting up a minor league basketball team, I suggest you look at the numbers in Prescott. Besides they already have an arena that sits about 8,000, and I know their hockey games are packed up there.

Is Takers or Fakers? ;)
Phantoms is a great name. Like their bill payments. :D

You have to wonder how the basketball community in PHX is doing since the NBA screwed them out of a legit chance to compete and beat the Spurs.
