Hey, just wondering what everyone out there thinks about the long term viability of Johnstown and Wheeling in the ECHL...

They both play in small arenas. They could sell out every game and still be in the middle/bottom of the league in attendance.

Small venues can sometimes have a great buzz and sold out feel. Is that the case in Johnstown and Wheeling? Are they hockey towns? Has anyone ever been to either of these arenas? What are the venues like?

We have a 4,000 seat Arena here in Elmira. I think you have to know your market though. Yes it ca work and has worked here, but as you see with Johnstown it finally ended this year(though it was long overdue) Wheeling is another story. They've been rumored to go a few times as well. The problem with Wheeling isn't entirely attendance related it's more of a WesBanco problem. They are unwilling to share conscessions related profits. They also apparently have a leaky roof.
