If anyone wants to compete in Lana's CHL Bracket Challenge, please send your picks to me at lksumpter-bracket@yahoo.com. Not only will you get bragging rights, but there is a prize! You get to pick an already existing design on any t-shirt from www.cafepress.com/sportsmusings. (Sorry, but I can't do this for any t-shirt at the entire cafepress.com site, just those from sportsmusings.) Alternately, if the winner has his or her own hockey-themed t-shirt idea, I will design it and put it on some stuff there. I will ship the winner the t-shirt of that person's choice.

Here's the link for the CHL's story about the matches: http://centralhockeyleague.com/news/?id=12166.

Since the whole thing is a bit complicated (the highest seeded loser of the first round moves on), please pick only the winners of the first round. I will send out second-round information to challenge participants after the first round is over.

All series are best of seven. Please pick one team from each of the six first-round series. Also pick the number of games each series will go. Your choices are due Thursday the 29th (before the first puck drops for the OKC-MEM game at 7:05 Central). You will get one point for each correctly chosen winner of each series. You will get another point for picking the number of games each series goes to. A total of 12 points is available for the first round.

After each round is done, I will send out the new picks and a points update for the contestants.

Northern Conference
Playoff Series A, Bossier-Shreveport (1) vs. Wichita (6)
Playoff Series B, Colorado (2) vs. Youngstown (5)
Playoff Series C, Memphis (3) vs. Oklahoma City (4)

Southern Conference
Playoff Series D, Laredo (1) vs. Rio Grande Valley (6)
Playoff Series E, New Mexico (2) vs. Amarillo (5)
Playoff Series F, Corpus Christi (3) vs. Arizona (4)

You might consider posting this over on CHL Forums (www.chlforums.com). There's a lot more CHL fan traffic over there than at OSC.
