You seem to know the ECHL pretty well.
Given the construction boom going on in Atlantic City, it's safe to say that a new club would draw fairly well...
Any chance the Devils move their ECHL franchise from Trenton to Atlantic City and then make Trenton their AHL club?
Thanks

The Devils/Trenton/AC rumor has floated around for a while. I think Trenton would be a great fit in the AHL (imagine Titans/Phantoms or Titans/Penguins games) BUT I'd suspect that Atlantic City would be the ugly sister here. AC has not shown itself to be very supportive of it's sports teams.
One other thing, would the Flyers and/or Phantoms have to give their blessing for Trenton to move up to the AHL?

I don't know the specific AHL rules, but most of these leagues protect teams within a certain distance.

It won't happen next season and I'm now hearing it might not happen at all. I've heard it's about 50/50 between the NJ-Trenton-AC situation and I've more recently heard that Trenton would just switch with Lowell with Trenton going AHL and Lowell going to the E.
As far as proximity, I've heard that the Phantoms would love to have Trenton as a rivalry.

As a Cyclones fan, I would love to see Atlantic City get another ECHL team (just don't call them the Boardwalk Bullies-hehe) but I'm more concerned in if the Cyclones are going to be around to see another season. :( Attendance hasn't been too hot this season especialy as big as US Bank Arena is. Hopefully the playoff push gets some fans interested given that the Clones have a chance to eliminate the Storm this week.
I enjoyed trips to AC to watch the Clones play it's somewhere that has some nice to visit on a weekend game trip. I haven't been on a road trip this season but if the clones are still around, I'll probably make a trip or 2 next year.

With the Rangers agreeing to keep their a AHL affiliate in Hartford for at least four seasons and the Devils keeping their affiliate in Lowell for at least one more season the door has closed on AC having hockey in 2007-2008.
The next opportunity to learn the future will be known by December 31, 2007 when the Devils must declare their intentions to stay in Lowell for future seasons.
