I didn't post this message under "The Red Flags are flapping in the breeze!" thread because David Stern in essence says that he is more concerned about the NBDL being a D-league than being concerned about profitability. That is straight and to the point:

Up to this point, has the league run the teams?

Does that mean there's a minimal level of promotion in each market?
(which is what I've grown accustomed to with single-owner leagues)

If answers to both of the above are yes...

...then things are probably looking up, if there are actual buyers. I have to see the market out there before I buy in on an emotional interest level.

If it does work, the league will be subject to the same deal of franchise movement that most other minor leagues endure.

If there's a hitch, it's that the NBA has to sell this to the players' association. The prevailing thought, from what I've heard, is that the players don't like the concept of possibly being "sent down". That alone makes me want to see Congress step in and tell the players to stuff it. :twisted:
