I am kind of dissapointed with the ESPN coverage of the AFL. There has been
no pregame show at least not since the first week. I really thought they would have done a better job with it since they bought 28% of the league. Here is hoping for better days.
I like the way Mike & Mike call the games, as well as Jaws & his partner (why can't I ever remember his name??), I just wish they would air more games. :(

if i might chime in, i feel like ESPN Radio could at least briefly go through the scores on game-day. it seems there's a whole lotta time taken up with other stuff that is geared toward heaven knows WHAT demographic. surely there's enough time and enough call to go through those scores. come on, how long'll it take, ten seconds tops...

I guess I just dont understand. They bought 28% of the league they made a
commercial that only aired on the afl website about how great the coverage
was going to be and outside of airing the game they realy dont do any thing else. What about a show like inside the AFL, or at least a pregame show or something. Please do something.

They show highlights of regular season games during SportsCenter. If anybody expected anything more, I'm surprised. This is ESPN after all.

It is already 100% better than NBC...

FSN has the best game production. As for ESPN, it only bought about 5-10 percent of the league. Hopefully they will show games at more regular times next season and cut the MNF junk. Next season ESPN is planning on having AFL fantasy football up too.

I'm kinda mixed about the AFL on ESPN. In some ways it is much better than ABC (Mike & Mike are great!) but there is an extreme lack of pregame hype or postgame coverage. It also seems that ESPN has picked too many Soul games for coverage. I know, it's the whole celebrity thing! The improvements I would make are:
1) More pregame
2) less shots of celebrities
3) more shots of dancers!
4) more "sounds of the game" segments

In defense of ABC/ESPN, the AFL schedule was pretty well set when the deal was made for TV rights. For that matter, the ESPN non-football schedule was also fairly solid, leaving a minimum of room for the AFL.
I would expect a better schedule on ABC/ESPN in 2008.

1. Mike & Mike are great
2. Jaws, while a decent analyst in studio, is a horrible play-by-play man
3. It's not worth cutting the sound every few seconds to prevent airing cuss words, if all you do is cut off the sound after the cuss word has been said and player on air
4. I agree, their needs to be more pregame. Maybe they could get some former AFL players to do an in studio pregme like they do with every other sport.
5. TRY A LITTLE LESS PHILLY!
6. Other than the first week, they have shown one game per week. Try regional coverage on Saturdays and Sundays to get more ratings.
