For 05-06, the last season of posted att. figures, it was
Oklahoma City, (total of 275,493) over the Eagles.
But - that's because OKC has a much bigger arena. Their avg att was 8609, v. Colo's 5289, which is maxed-out for Colo and the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.
OKC plays in the Ford Center, hockey seating capacity is 18,036!! Their paid att % for the 05-06 reg season was therefore 47.7% (8609/18036) while
Colo's was 100% (5289/5289).
Amazing but true, the seating capacity at NYC's Madison Square Garden for hockey is 18,200.
The OKC Blazers, a CHL team, play in a venue just about as big as the Garden...
And another thing: The Blazers' radio guy is pretty damn good, too!

Point made. This whole discussion is based on the fact that you said the Colorado Eagles were the best team in AA hockey. I stilll have not read anything that backs that up. So I'd say you can believe what you want ... but let's find something else to discuss.
Maybe ... do the Eagles need a bigger arena?

From the CHL website-- the league regards itself as AA.
"... the CHL is proud to have led all “AA” professional hockey leagues in average attendance for four consecutive seasons".
Let's compare the Trenton Titans (ECHL) with the Colorado Eagles (CHL).
Specifically, the two vets: Bertoli of the Titans and Panky of the Eagles.
In brief, there is no comparison...Panky can skate cicles around Berti!
And? The Eagles would blow the Titans off the freakin ice!
Finally, the SBA in downtown Trenton is like a morgue these days while the noise level at the BEC in Loveland is thunderous.
In the ECHL's defense...it's afreakin revolving door with AHL call-ups.
So as a result, CHL teams play more cohesive hockey and would likely win a CHL vs. ECHL Championship Showdown...

The ECHL is a development league. The CHL is an independent league.

Yes...but how would Colorado fare against an actually good team, like Florida or Bakersfield or Alaska. It's only fair to pit one division champion against another as opposed to a team that was in 4th place in the worst division in the league...

The ECHL is a development league. The CHL is an independent league.
I've been following the CHL since its re-inception. There have been some breathtaking players in this league (Ron Handy) and there have been some oafs who can barely skate (too many to mention).
There have been some CHL players where you wonder "what the heck are they still doing in the CHL?" (Desjardins with Wichita in the early years, but the knock against him was he was too short.)
A CHL team vs. an ECHL team would be interesting to watch. The CHL players are more experienced, but the ECHL players would be more athletic and better skilled. The ECHL players would have trouble with the CHL's physicality (and goons).
A CHL team vs. a UHL team would probably be a good match.

Yes, a CHL v. ECHL matchup would be interesting. Specifically, would
like to see a series of the Kelly Cup champs v. the Ray Miron President's Cup
champs. Thoughts on this competition? Would this be evenly matched each year,
or would there be domination by one league's champs? Are there enough fans who
would care enough to make it a successful, special, post-season series?
Impractical in any event? Or, just an idea already thought of and discarded?
CHL this year- Eagles, 'Bugs, 'Kings, and Bucks all fine and tough.
One of them would likely be our entrant. (Blazers good as usual, too, though.)
(Sorry, Ragers. Have been pulling for ya, but probably just need time to get established.)
ECHL fans: What're your odds-on favorites for the Kelly and thus a 2007 imaginary dance partner for the President's Cup winner?
