San Diego Wildcats Host First Round of ABA Playoffs as an Impressive Inaugural Season Ends

03/09/07

San Diego, CA -- The Wildcats (16W-9L) closed their first season in the ABA powerfully. San Diego was rewarded with a first round playoff game at home against the Maywood Buzz (13W-15L). The game will be held Wednesday, March 14, at San Diego High School at 7:30 pm.

The playoff setup for the ABA is single game elimination, which adds tension to both teams. The match up between the teams has been even with the regular season series being knotted at two victories a piece. This will be the ultimate tie breaker to prove which team is better to move on in the post season. The Wildcats are lead by ABA All-Star Cardell Butler as they push to have an impact in their first playoff.

My question is does 25 played games constitute a home game advantage? the classes should reflect a team with 36 played games given preference in the rankings due to the organizations ability to adapt to a changing schedule and give the teams without that ability a chance to complete the season with a bit more integrity to their rankings.
should the league have made some scheduling accomodations for teams with:

A: a full seasons play (36 games)
B: an abreviated season (30+ games)
C: a truncated season (29- games)

playing them futher in some sort of pre playoff tournament to make up games not played? Even bringing 3 or 4 teams to one city to play each other for the selected 4 slots in the ranking?

Even playing the bottom team from the next list up to give it some sort of Wild card validity...

What do we think?

Buzz to play San Diego in first round of ABA playoffs

03/10/07

Maywood, CA - The Maywood Buzz just learned that they made the 2007 ABA Championship Tournament. They will have to travel 1:15 minutes down south on the 5fwy to play the host team the San Diego Wildcats.

The Buzz who won the season series with the Wildcats 2-1 (3-1 if you are counting pre-season). "We are really confendent on going to play San Diego. We won the season series & the big part was that we won both those games on their home court" says Buzz GM/Head Coach Burrel Lee III.

"We have been through a lot this season as a team. We had our ups and downs and we have also played pretty well on the road" added Lee. "I have a great group of guys from the top to the bottom. And the good thing is that we have all been around basketball all our lives and know that being the underdog is sometimes the route to go" says Lee.

The Buzz who are lead by the 2007 Buzz Co-MVP's Terrell Hendricks & Lamar Gayle. As well as Will Burr, Derrick Anderson & John Janssen.

This should be a great game......for more information on the Maywood Buzz please email buzzbasketball@gmail.com or call 323.562.5570.

Forget for a moment the grammatical issues...

Even the teams don't agree on their head-to-head record. DId they play 3 games or 4? Who won?

Sort of fundamental, easy questions that they don't seem to be able to answer correctly...

(And it really doesn't matter which is correct, does it? They fact that their record-keeping is this poor speaks for itself...)
