Calls to the office were not answered for two days untill today when a young lady said that the team will NOT be making any more road trips this season and hung up !!

According to the schedule on the ABA website Strong Island doesn't have any road games left this season. Their game at Rochester on 03/08/07 has been taken by Buffalo and the others are across town in Newark.

Your threads look like you know something from the title...and then after reading it, you're just tossing around wild allegations.
If you go to the Strong Island website you will see that they have ALL HOME GAMES left except two at Newark. So perhaps there is something up with those two Newark games (like maybe Newark canceled them) or perhaps they just don't consider driving 45 minutes to play a game "going on the road".

Rochester's game at Newark has been cancelled. So I suspect something is going on with Newark.

up until about 2 weeks ago us here in Buffalo were goin to NYC to play the Strong on the third, and we took their place on 3/8 against Rochester, thats a good thing cos we dont hav anymore games scheduled, that game would keep the players fresh before the playoffs

Did she say anything else, or are you just hunting for a story to try to restore some sort of credibility to yourself, BasketballUSA? Give it up.

Its very simple and since Im old enough ,let me explain how things work.
I used the TELEPHONE and called strong Islannd, Michelle said that "We can not go to Rochester" I asked why? She said. I dont know we just cant.
I used the TELEPHONE and called Rochester, Chris said, Strong Island sent an e-mail and said they were not going to show up, no explanation. There are no plans for Buffalo to come.
I used the TELEPHONE and called Buffalo, they said that the season is over for them.
Its really a great invention that telephone but seems a few of you dont know how to use it. Strong island is out of money, thats the answer, they were on the schedule from day one to play Rochester, now they cant.

I can use a phone quite fine BasketballUSA...why must we get all defensive? I just wanted to know all that was said in your phone conversation. I don't automatically conclude that the team is dead from what you have said. I just want to know if there is more to this, or if its just YOU jumping to conclusion to make a story.

Wow it is amazing how people can make up stuff as they go, here is the whole story, we have 5 games in 6 days, Buffalo wanted to take on additional games, a tenative agreement for Buffalo to take our place in Rochester was made then Buffalo changed their plans, we will be in Rochester on the 8th so please don't make assumptions. What I see with these blogs is you guys have way to much time on your hands. In the words of William Shatner to the trekies,"Get a Life People"

You know, the only person to refer to these posts as "blogs" are the various incarnations of BasketballUSA...(trying to save face?)
(Or you could actually be what you say you are, if Paul actually banned sockpuppets, we'd know.)

Well Sportsgig, BasketballUSA, A1Sports - looks like we just heard from the owner of Strong Island himself - and as I first reported - you're wild allegations are just that!
Looks like Strong Island WILL be playing at Rochester and WILL be playing its remaining home games....so ONCE AGAIN - you have made a thread based on a team folding that has entirely no basis in fact.

Yikes, the latest Rochester press release, along with their website, claims the game has been postponed. If this is the case, hopefully that'll get updated so it doesn't cause confusion.
There's no reason to doubt Strong Island is alive and well. Their organization is very active on the other webboard. I figured they'd get on here soon enough and set the record straight, and they did.

that we are talking about Strong Island and ... out of the blue ... we get a new "inside" poster who has this wealth of information.
Amazing ... one criticism of a team ... and whoop ... a new poster appears. Coincidental? I think not.
Nice try, as was said before, sock puppet. Don't bother joining again to try and con people.
am I going to write off Strong Island, the way some of you seem to be. Especially after they drew 1,000 vs Maryland recently. Their fan base seems to be building and they do have a good team to support that. For whatever reason they had cancelled games, but their website is still intact. That may not mean a lot to some of you, but I have yet to see any proof that they have left. Until I do, I still see the Strong as a valid team.

Enough of these "sock puppet" comments. You are making an incorrect assumption, and I know that for a fact. Whatever the reason for him coming here, StrongIsland knows what is going on with the Sound. I would reject his criticism of the boards, but he is qualified to speak about Strong Island.
Speaking of the boards, if the ABA did a better job of communicating and playing its games as scheduled, ABA teams would be amazed at how much that would cut down on the speculation. As it is, the ABA has earned every bit of cynicism it receives.

Guys, at least check with someone before posting something totally moronic on the boards. Strong Island is a strong franchise and somehow I don't think they are going anywhere.
Paul is correct in saying if the ABA as a whole sent out more press releases, and items other than fluff pieces on their website, the speculation would dwindle. Why? Because someone would be telling the fans and media something!!!

StrongIsland has been posting on the other ABA board since the team's inception.
He is not a fantasy screen name dreamed up by the usual cast of characters.

I'm still waiting for the long ago promised comprehensive team stats, attendance figures and updated websites. I guess when you have a different band of parolees playing every night, its hard to keep track. Joe can't keep track of stats, but you can bet your ass he knows whats in his ABA back account down to the last nickel.

StongIsland, I believe is the media director for the Sound.
Paul doesn't ban sockpuppets, but he threatens to ban everyone else, and has banned me 3 times before.

Strong Island Sound
03-14-2007, 12:37 AM
The Sound did in fact go up to Rochester on 3/8, as planned. The team had a road game at Newark the following evening, and then a home game the next night versus Brooklyn.
The last two games of the season (3/11 at home & 3/13 on the road) were not played due to Newark, not Strong Island.
The Sound were assigned road games for the first two rounds of the playoffs: 3/17 at Quebec, and (if necessary) 3/18 at Vermont.

And from what Alex Wolff has told me about your organization, the games will be played if you guys have to walk up here. Best of luck in the first round and I hope to see you at the game on Sunday afternoon. (I am easy to find, I am running the shot clock.)
