Wayne County's first home game will be played in Steubenville, as part of a doubleheader with the Stampede's home opener.
On March 24, the Rumble will host the Muskegon Thunder in their 'home' opener at 3pm at Steubenville's St. John Arena.
At 7pm, the Steubenville Stampede will open their season, hosting the NY/NJ Revolution.
One ticket will be good for both games. I'm curious how many will be there for the first game, and how this can be a good thing. Seems the CIFL is making the best of a bad situation.
Although if anything, I'd see about giving Muskegon a 7th home game. Sure to have more fans paying for a ticket there than in Steubenville when it's all part and parcel with the Stampede opener.

If I lived in the area I'd go to see both games even though Marion and Miami Valley won't be playing.
Why can't Wayne County play all six of their games in their own arena?

I know the reason, ....
Well, what is it?
The official CIFL spokesperson sent me private messages and public posts on the CIFL board on the Port Huron failure to pay its players...which is exactly what Jim Terry said on his a-f-w website. The CIFL did cover that up in its minimal sense. Supposedly they did get paid later on, but that's beside the point.
Does Wayne County have its ducks lined up? Were they admitted into the league without having such sufficient resources from the get-go? Did the first facility uncover this and kick them out? If the circus plans to be in town why not just say the circus had first dibs on the facility and the mistake was with the arena people, but nevertheless the Rumble can't play on the opening date as original scheduled. I'm not getting a straight answer from the official folks that know.
Can I get a Bill O'Reilly no-spin and/or Moohead Radio-like response from Sykotyk, please?
I want to know if I can safely buy my tickets beforehand if I desire to attend a CIFL game.

Go back and check the CIFL forum. See what you have waiting. We can talk there.

Why not here?
From Tatonka:"Do not worry about why... we are doing what is best for the franchise in the long run. The Wayne County release will be out soon, I wasn't expecting the league to put up my Steubenville release so soon."
Two things:
1) info was released by Tatonka's partners when Tatonka wasn't ready for them to do that. This sort of thing happened in the USFL as well (The $3 Dollar League).
2) The highlighted part reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. "Pay no attention to the guy behind that curtain!" He/she has some embarrassng NIFL/Jim Terry-like issue in his/her closet he/she doesn't want the general public to know? Not only that he/she wasn't the least bit diplomatic in his/her response to me. Yuck, dude!
Tatonka, the person behind that nickname, flatout refuses to say why. He/she speaks from authority like they are actually a partner in the league and his/her comments do not get rebuffed by the administrators. I don't think Tatonka is some goofball spouting off and impersonating a CIFL partner, do you?

If the Wayne County owner doesn't have his ducks lined up (which Ramone does, he seems to be doing pretty well), the Steubenville owner probably doesn't, either...seems how Ramone owns both of them.
The league appears to have released this before the WC/STB teams (again, same ownership) were ready to, but no big deal. The league did say they've been looking to do this for quite some time now.

I've never hidden who I am or who I represent... Unlike alot of people, I use the same "handle" from board to board and I'd like to think I've been pretty consistent in my postings over time so most people know where I stand on certain issues.
Especially on the CIFL board, where each and every one of my posts clearly states what position I hold within the league.
I have not refused to say anything... I said I had not prepared the second part of the doubleheader release. I wanted to get that done today, but it will probably wait until tomorrow. Hopefully, it explains a lot to everyone out there so anxious to know what's going on.
Is everything perfect in Wayne County? No. Is it perfect in Tupelo, or Manchester, or Topeka, or Rockford, or Philadelphia? I doubt it. I've always said... it's not always about the problem; we all have problems, sh!t happens. It's how you DEAL with the problem that defines what kind of team/league you're a part of. We're dealing with some problems, all I ask is that you reserve judgment until after you've seen how we handle those problems.

I don't know the history of your nickname. No plans to research that. I am a little appalled at your bluntness (and poor choice of word) at times with your customers since you are a representative of the CIFL.
...sh!t happens
Nice. Actually not nice (or professional) from a person that's suppose to be a PR person for the league.

Fair enough I guess.

To be honest CoS, I'm not sure if the CIFL wants to have you as a fan.

Again, I do not know where it's been stated that I am a PR person for the league. I do not hold a formal position with the league office. I am with the two teams that we have been mentioning in this thread, the Rumble and the Stampede.
And since when are messageboards for "professional" communication? I always thought we kept things pretty informal around here...

You are an administrator on the CIFL board, too. Hence you are the CIFL.

It's informal for us, but not you. It's a double standard for good reason.
Whether you are paid or a semi-volunteer in the CIFL you don't talk. Therefore you never should make it known you work with the CIFL if you still desire to talk with the general public. You don't make it known you are connected with the league. Your fellow CIFL partners (majority owners) probably cringe every time you post.
You are connected with the league, therefore every time you post you are a PR person. I'm surprised you haven't been approached by one or more CIFL partners about keeping a low profile. Sort of shocked someone who is ignorant (not an insult in the purest sense of the word) in public relations education gets away with being an administrator on the CIFL with crass/blunt responses to customer comments.

I'm an administrator on the CIFL board, and don't consider myself a CIFL PR person. I don't have a team affiliation, I root for them all, but would not consider myself as part of the higher ups in the league by any means.
Anyways, Tatonka is an admin on there because he's good at it. He works for Wayne County and Steubenville, not the league.

Because I'm an Admin, I'm the CIFL? I bet the three league co-founders would beg to differ on that point. But I guess I shouldn't expect a coherent argument from someone recommending 'Joe Dirt' as a good rent.
Paul, is this so-called double standard posted somewhere where everyone but me can see it? Since when is this board restricted to fans only? I was a fan once, and still am of some other teams and leagues, so please don't tell me that I'm not permitted to post my views here, especially when someone such as yourself decides to speak up about a situation involving me that they know nothing about.
Now, if you care to apologize for wasting my shamefully wasted time, I'll consider accepting it.

Well, at least we know the REAL reason there's a doubleheader in Steubenville.

Tatonka and CoS, it's time to take the personal stuff off the boards. I'd suggest PMs or emails from now on when you have comments to make to each other. Posts about minor league sports are always welcome here.

CoS, if you want to talk to the PR guy for the league, then you need to speak to me, not Tatonka.
If you want to talk about the situation or just want to voice your displeasure with something we do in the CIFL, then I'm sure you can find your way to the league website and get a hold of me.
Not many leagues are so open to this kind of fan interaction when it comes to this stuff, so here's your chance. We don't hide things from our fan and the situation is clearly explained in Wayne County's release about the situation.

You disappoint me Josh... you know the doubleheader has been discussed before and that this one was planned before the team decided to move.
The final decision to relocate was just made last week when we got the final word from the Gault on the variance... if we knew weeks ago that Wooster absolutely could not host the team, we would have moved back then. We held out until literally the last minute and the doubleheader was planned not because we were moving, but we were trying to buy time and we thought it would be a fun thing to do.
Besides, if you have the choice between playing in front of 800 people or 2800 people, what choice would you make?

Why do I disappoint you? I know the doubleheader had been discussed before. I guess the '2800' now gives everyone a facade to think the team's a long-term fixture here in Summit County, right?
creativelysain

Ramone is thinking it can be long term from what I understand. But what do I know.
exit322
02-28-2007, 02:24 PM
Yes, this can be long-term. I don't feel it's likely at all, but it certainly can. 2800 is feasible. I am interested to see what happens.

Funny how attitudes and opinions change when someone isn't a part of something anymore.
Speaking of facades...

Umm, I believe the fella (Josh Spitaleri) you are insulting started this league, right? Whose dream was this in the first place?
If the style of tone from you is any indication of what to expect this year, I would not be surprised to see the indoor version of the '74 WFL this year. You know Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, Detroit Wheels, New York/Charlotte Stars/Hornets. Need I say more?

Information incorrect again... Mr. Stein did not start the CIFL/GLIFL, but he was it's Media Relations person for the first season. He does not and did not ever have an ownership stake in the league, just like myself.
The co-founders are brothers Jeff and Eric Spitaleri, and Cory Trapp.

Shouldn't that post be in the Niffle board? And I'll back Tatonka up-exit was only the media director.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just think if this was last year when you were broadcasting Legends games and Haines pulled something like this.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just think if this was last year when you were broadcasting Legends games and Haines pulled something like this.
If it had happened mid-season, I would have been livid... if it happens in this league mid-season I'll be just as livid...
But if it happened before kickoff, and it seemed like the decision was made for the better, I'd give it a chance, I'm a fair guy.
The difference is, we've seen the reasons why Haines pulled stuff similar to this, and it's not the same thing. Should we have given up on Wooster a long time ago? In hindsight, yeah, we should have. Did we give it every chance that we could to see if it could work? I'd like to think so...
