OLD STYLE LEAGUES, INC OF NEW YORK AFFILIATES WITH THE ABA

21-Feb-2007
Nassau County, NY -- Old Style Leagues, Inc., a New York State Licensed business that provides men's indoor basketball leagues all year round today announced an affiliation with the American Basketball Association (ABA). Established in the summer of 2003, Old Style now entertains over 80 adult teams per year. The league plays in Queens NY and Nassau Counties LI on Monday through Thursday evenings.

According to Glenn O'Brien, President of Old Style Leagues, Inc., "During the summer season of 2006, our Board of Directors wanted to establish Old Style as different from our competitors. The league came up with the idea to incorporate the old ABA ball as its game ball. Our Board had fond memories of the old ABA (its teams, its history, the red, white and blue ball). So we looked into it and after making contact with the ABA CEO, Joe Newman, we were able to work out an arrangement to become affiliated with them. It's very exciting for us."

"We're very pleased that Old Style wanted to have a close relationship," added Newman. "Actually we are honored that they sought us out. It's great having 80 teams playing with ABA balls. Now, we hope they will adopt our rules (3-D etc). We look forward to a successful relationship."
