According to TCPalm.com, coach Brian Roberson and Robert Hoffman Jr. have decided not to invest in the Port St. Lucie Mustangs. No reason was given, but the team will now be owned by the league.

Anyone find it interesting that the article says the team has has two tryouts and picked up just three players, yet 22 guys will be offered contracts from the third and final tryout Saturday?

If you have 50 bucks and show up, chances are coach has a contract for ya.

A lot of times teams bring people back for the final tryout from the first two. It gives them a chance to get into better shape and helps the team get a better feel for who can hack it.

A number of players might be returning from the first two tryouts that could have been good but, maybe not that good or they may have had quite a bit of players of the same position. I've seen so many tryouts where there are a LOT of WR/DBs and not many other positions. Good QBs and Linemen seem to be hard to come by too.

TRUE STORY:eek: -------One other team that was and still listed on the site had a situation like this come up the team organizer was contacted by CG after 3 weeks of being involved with the league and the first thing he was told upon answering his cell was CG owned the team now he had only been offer'ed $400.00 per week which was not to start until the season started to set up the team and run the team get all of the sponsors and people in place to run the team daily and they would all be paid by the league officeonce the season started, also send any business transaction to the league office to be paid by the league one of the office people that was asked to come on board is a friend of mine, after a league telephone conference call meeting with mostly coaches who are running the league teams the guy who has the knowledge to do both coach and run the business of a sports team called his people together and told them the league didn't have a clue and most of the teams league owned would not get off the ground so they were not going to move forward. Now the team is still listed on the site but they will not play a down of real football.I was told that the new guy the league has now brought on board just Monday of this week asked if he could see the complex but would have to come by on a Saturday since he had to work on other day's,this last statement has just told you a lot about what chance this team would have of playing real pro football I'll bet all of the other league owned teams have this same concept so if you are buying ticket's it had better be for a team owned by someone other than the nifl.

I realize all that, but I didn't want to apply real world common sense to an NIFL topic. They just don't go together . . .
