Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Basketball League and Empire Sports Group have reached a multi-year contract, which establish the group's rights to telecast TBL basketball games through the 2012 season, it was announced today by Texas Basketball League Commissioner Charles Johnson.

The new contract, which will begin with the 2007 season, will call for a minimum of 12 men's basketball appearances per season by TBL teams. "We're very pleased to establish our partnership with Empire Sports," said Johnson. "TBL teams will enjoyed outstanding exposure through the years on Empire Sports Network. The length of this agreement guarantees that TBL teams will have a high profile on broadcast network television well into the future." said Johnson. "This agreement assures that TBL basketball will become a central component of Empire Sports' basketball schedule."

The Texas Basketball League is becoming the largest and most diverse basketball league in the state. It was formed in 2007 and represents the athletic interests of 12 basketball franchises including Team Cavaliers, Team Knicks, Team Bulls, Team Heat, Team Celitics, Team Heat, Team Spurs, Team Mavericks, Team Suns, Team Sonics, Team Lakers and Team Kings. ** So what are these guys doing, that the ABA cannot seem to do?

The only thing I'm curious about though is ... NOW ... Is the Empire Sports Network back up and broadcasting?

considering that an Amateurish live broadcast costs in the area of 17 to 20 thousand dollars for a 2 hour 15 minute game and a profesionally covered game costs between 26 and 35 thousand. Can I would wonder how they can find the sponsors for that kind of outlay and will they pick up that kind of viewership?

So...the Orlando Orange Men should've called themselves "TEAM" Orange Men to avoid the lawsuits. I see, I see. I'll know for next time!

I'm curious to see if the Waco Wranglers will skip out and join the TBL!
