I heard rumors about the demise of the Miami Tropics & Tennessee Mud Frogs earlier this week.
Judging from the ABA Power Rankings news story, the rumors appear to be true.
Miami went from #6 to unranked without a single explanation or "close mention."
Tennessee went from #22 to unranked without either one of these too.
So I think they're RIP, DOA, and all that other medical stuff.

Not to worry with Tennessee. Joe can find an owner for them in 48 hours.

The mudfrogs had a very good team with a great coaching staff. They had a all star (Chris Brown) who should get a chance in the D-League.
I THINK there was trouble with the ADMINISTRATION from day one and the coaching staff and players hung on as long as possibe and still worked hard. I take my hat off for them.
This is a great example that no money+questionable ownership (at best)=dont let them in the ABA.
I hope the players and coaches can grow from this experience, good luck guys!!!!!

the same company? If so, why would one team remain in the ABA and the other be out of the league.

If they are not defunct, why are several of their players contacting teams like Jacksonville and Palm Beach to play? And...these are good players, too (1 starter and 6-7 man of the bench?).

Actually the Tropics "Elite" was the ABA campaign team they are a tournament team by roots and had tried to break into league play, but being from tournament play roots they have no PR organization to draw from and besides a VERY strong basketball organization dropped the ball in the promotional arena. Keep in mind that the bigger tournaments have Huge corporate sponsorships to cover promo so the teams dont need to.
my previous discussions with Individuals in and around the Tropics organization are what fostered the Idea of making it a combination league with the regions playing off tournament style under a regional sponsor and sending the top 4 teams in each region into league play and on to playoffs etc. It seemed to be a better way to manage a league this large.

Probably back to tournament play, possibly a return to the ABA if the enviornment is a better fit. As much as they had an early reputation as thug ballers they matured into a strong team and were the toughest competitors the Jam have come across this year.

The Tropics "Elite" may possibly (make) a return to the ABA if the environment is a better fit.

Again, I thought they were owned by the same group that owns the PB Imperials. I don't think the Tropics will be back. Miami didn't work in the USBL (also known as the Tropics), so I don't know why the ABA would be any different.

I think they are waiting for a pro or semi pro League or tournament series witin the US, they seem to Campaign in South America a bit and in the US with moderate success. I dont think they had the same ownership but I do think that the Imperials ownership had reserved the market and sold it to the current regime.

MAGICIAN! Q says hi!
Yes the Vision tore up the Frogs early in the second half for a whopping 39 point win. Despite bricking its early shots and falling down 9-1 in the first two minutes, The Vision tied the Pond squatters 25-25 after the first. After that, it was all Vision baby. Good crowd....the dancers entertained, AV played with the kids, the fans put up 3 pointers for a chance to win a mini ball. It was all good.
Bring on Wilmington. After a 3-11 start, the 11-15 Vision need a strong showing against the SeaDawgs in the next 4 games to crack the power rankings.
