Des Moines expected to land D-League team

A Des Moines investor group expects to learn within the next two weeks that the NBA will place a minor-league expansion franchise here, members of the group said Wednesday.

"I am confident this franchise will happen," said Jerry Crawford, a Des Moines lawyer and one of the chief architects of an application for a Des Moines franchise in the NBA Development League. "Forget everything you have ever heard about minor-league basketball. The NBA is the new sheriff in town and they will make this product work."

The team would begin play in November, with home games at Wells Fargo Arena....

I remember the IBA days with the Wizards and the Des Moines Dragons. My brother had some sort of weird obsession with them, but he was still a Wizards fan.

I don't know what else to say other than Sioux Falls and Dakota will have another team in the area now so that'll help.

I wonder what stupid names we'll be able to vote on with this team if we get to vote...

Des Moines Dazzle.

It brings back the name from Roanoke, it would go great with Utah Flash, Los Angeles D-Fenders and Anaheim Arsenal.
