Can anyone confirm or deny the ceasing of operations by the Miami (Miramar) Tropics?

It appears that they just recently played (Feb 9th or 11th ?) ... and lost a game to the Palm Beach Imperials ... but there is no score listed as to the fact that this game was played, or that Palm Beach was awarded a forfeit?

The Tropics have dropped the remaining games off their schedule page on their website: http://miamitropicslive.com/_wsn/page5.html

And ... So another ABA team from South Florida gets blown away

OSC lists the 2/9 and 2/11 games as ppd. Their most recent game played was on 2/6.

They have a home game listed for tonight and the next two days, so let's see if any of them get played.

I was checking for the websites. I don't see Miami anymore.

Miami was supposed to come to Orlando and play us Friday and Saturday, but they aren't coming. How can you be third in the ABA power rankings and not make it through the season - like 4-5 games left?

As of tonight, Orlando has removed all remaining February games from their schedule on their website. http://www.orlandoaces.com/Schedule.html

Next game is listed as March 2, 2007 ... It looks like the Tropics may have blown the division schedule to bits ???

I see no updated games on the Tropics schedule http://miamitropicslive.com/_wsn/page5.html

There is a game scheduled for tonight on the ABA Schedule; which is also listed on the OSC schedule ... there is no game scheduled on either team's individual website:

Palm Beach http://www.palmbeachimperials.com/schedule.htm

Tropics http://miamitropicslive.com/_wsn/page5.html

It will be interesting to see if the ABA Standings mysteriously change though, without a reported score, lol???

Kind of like ... Miami is listed in the current standing as 18-6 ... and Palm Beach is listed as
10-14 ??? (Where is that score from their last game?)

I believe Miami should be 18-5 and Palm Beach should be 9-14.

But hey ... I'm a Jax Jam Fan ... soo ... being 1st in the Southeast Division is okay with me!

"Are you ready to Jam!"

The Tropics and the Imperials have the same owner too...Mr. Imperato - who's running for President!

That would be a good campaign question at the debates: "Mr. Imperato, how do you think you are qualified to run the USA when your two ABA teams could not complete a 4 month season?"

No they are 18 and 6 I believe the Last game they played was in miramar against the Jam, I believe the Tropics have dropped out of the ABA however in deference and respect for a Fantastic Philanthropic BASKETBALL organization check www.hoop-rap.com it is the actual website of the Miami Tropics. Lets see how things work out, the Tropics could not find a suitable venue close enough to Miami and had to play in southwest Broward, their core fans did not follow. if a suitable venue can be found I hope they come back and their egress had nothing to do with a sour taste of league management (I can see the base organization not wanting to be affiliated to the kind of controversy and drama being played out). This organization is about BASKETBALL and they perform like that.

IN ANY CASE GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES TO ART ALVAREZ and his MIAMI TROPICS!!!!

this one is worth 2 bits.

Core Fans?? How many core fans did the Tropics even have? It's crazy to me to watch all of these first year teams rent these super-expensive venues, especially when they have no consistent, proven way to fill the stands. It's no wonder so many of the teams fold up.

that the ABA is full of controversy! And that's one, of a multitude of reasons, why teams drop out of the league.

I'm not too sure that the ABA; in it's current condition; is a good fit for the South Florida market.

IMO, I would not anticipate a Tropics return to the ABA ... as like the Florida Pit Bulls before them.

The Tropics were fairly good about posting pictures, and they probably drew a few hundred a game at best. In general, it looked like Florida was a success story for the ABA this year. Unfortunately, this happening has certainly taken away from that. When I read they changed venues the other day, I figured something was up.

To answer this thread's question, yes, I can confirm through a good source that the Tropics are not operating right now.

They are not coming to Orlando today and tomorrow...that's for sure. We lose two home games out of it!
