This week in Chicago, we got 10 inches of snow, and now its barely above 3 degrees. Toronto made it town for basketball, the Wolves played hockey in the suburbs, Loyola played basketball, high school tournaments took place, and Southern IL played its game. Are the buses and hotels used in the ABA different somehow from what everyone else uses? None of teams fly, so why the cancellations? Put more exactly, these games where to be cancelled anyway, it just so happens the weather worked out as an excuse. What reasons were used for cancelled games in November? Turkeys running across the roads? Spilled cranberry sauce on I55 made travel too slick? Maybe the bad weather would have held the crowds down to 40 people instead of the usual 75? The guy from the rec center has the keys to the gym and his Ford Pinto got stuck in the driveway? Its really cold and these ABA basketballs went flat? Masking tape numbers don't stick very well to uniforms under 30 degrees? Home Depot was having a sale, and most of the players had to work overtime? Major league teams and college teams must have different weather than the ABA..........if they played in a summer league, games would be cancelled because its too hot, or the bus driver can't find his sunglasses.

I sure hope you're not refering to the Vermont-Maryland rescheduled game. Because there is a slight difference between 10 inches in one week (as you stated) and 36 inches in 24 hours (or less as the case was in certain places here).

For goodness sakes Vermont is a good franchise. They had a very good reason to cancel the game. There is somewhere between 2 and 10 ft of snow in basically every part of the northeast. Travel by bus might be a little dangerous. Plus the fact that fans are not going to knowingly put their lives at risk to go watch a game. The ABA has been horrible in the way they have a tendency to cancel games for the vaguest of reasons but this time no one is to blame.

Alright Lets wait a minute. The Midwest has historically been much more prepared for snow emergencies the northeast. Having lived in St Paul and N.Y., and N.J most of my life I can relate Living in St Paul we could get a foot or more of snow and the schools were opened. in NY or NJ I would Laugh at my neighbors if it threatened to snow more than 2.5 inches the schools closed the day before, the grocery stores had riots in the aisles and people acted as though there was a nuclear holocaust coming... you cant conduct a game with the population acting like that, it makes NO sense. dont be so hard on those decisions.

..because the Patroons couldn't get a flight to Pittsburgh. Given the bumper cars on some of the Interstate Highways in Pennsylvania, I can't blame them a bit for not driving either.

Some of the NBA and NHL teams have charter planes. Obviously, that helps.

Let's just say the weather is a little less predictable at the country's coasts than in the middle. A lot more ice too.

Whatever criticisms I have of the ABA, postponing the Vermont-Maryland game to another day was the right move.

Dude!!! We got nailed with three FEET of snow in this area. Schools have been closed for the last three days, and it is at the point where many people have finally been able to finish cleaning up from this mess. Postponing the Maryland/Vermont game was going to be a guarantee. If I couldn't get my car going on the roads, there was no way Maryland would make it up here. I-89 was just a mess. Alex and Tom Doyle made the only call they could. By the way, the game will be played tonight.
