According to Kansas Koyotes' owner Ralph Adams, who was on a local radio talk show today, stated that the team was 25 season tickets short of their goal of 1,000.
I know the Koyotes averaged around 1,800 per game last season, so 975 season tickets sold already for this season seems to me to be quite an accomplishment, considering there were only two legitimate teams in the APFL by last season's end.
If the competition is as legitimate as Adams is promising, I can honestly see 3,500-4,000 per game. And, if that happens, Adams will finally prove he is a legitimate owner with a legitimate team.

Gotta question for everyone. If the Wichita Stealth doesn't have a place to play in 2005 and possibly 2006, due to arena renovations, could they make the move to Topeka?

I ordered my ticket last week.....got a personal call for Ralph since the seat I requested isn't available.

As much as I'd love to see the Stealth play in Topeka in 2005/2006, what renovations to the field would have to be made??? and would this really be a feasible option???

I know there's talk of David Key, Stealth owner, wants to build an arena of his own to house his team and possibly the Wichita Thunder hockey team. But, I don't think that it can be done is such a short timeframe. One option who be for Key to move the Stealth to Topeka and have Mr. Adams partner with him in ownership.
With the CHL coming back to Topeka this fall and the return of the rivalries with Tulsa and Oklahoma City, it's only fitting to extend the rivalries into the indoor football season.
I don't think Adams has the capital to field a AF2 team unless he has backing from a person like Key or maybe even Horn Chen, who is putting a CHL team back in Topeka this fall.

I'd love to see the AF2 get into Topeka....it'd be great for those of us who can't get enough football throughout the year! But again, what renovations would have to be done to the field to put an AF2 team here? Do you think it would be possible to have a team like the Stealth AND an APFL team going on at the same time??? or would it have to be either or?

Who knows what will happen with the Stealth in 2005...

But from recent newspaper ariticles... Mr. Key.. The owner of the Stealth has left a trail of problems with his failed business venture not related to the Stealth..

I was glad to see a local guy buy the team... But his plans to build a new arena may just be a pipe dream... From some local powers that be who want a downtown arena to the possibility he just doesn't have the means to do it himself.. who knows?

Glad to see the Koyotes selling that many season tickets...

Season ticket orders have eclipsed 1200 now, per my sources.

Doing some math and worst case: Lets say all 1200 people bought the $98 season tickets. Thats about $120,000.

$120,000 is about half what it costs to join the NIFL.

So lets say Ralph Adams has overhead, ins. etc, etc, etc, but no league fees; He could actually make a decent profit in 2004 with home games vs teams from 5 different states.

Maybe the APFL make more sense than the NIFL.

Season ticket sales have now exceeded 1,300. The Koyotes are expecting 3,500 on Saturday night.

I know Ralph Adams worked his tail off this past off-season and it looks to be paying off.

I'm sure there are a couple of NIFL teams that would love to see 1,300 in the seats on game night.

I think we had at least 2000 if not close to 2400 at the game tonight. I'm sure there were some out of town due to the Easter weekend. Pulled out a win - 63-34 (I think....lol). Was 25-22 at the half as we kept trading out TD's for most of the first two quarters. Koyotes got burnt a few times on the long passes, a couple for TD's, but we also ran a couple of kickoffs back for TD's. Koyotes kept Roberson scrambling for some of the first half but most of the second. He threw the ball into the stands at least 4-5 times....very obvious throws. Coffin and Kelly spent time QBing for the Koyotes. Only thing I can really complain about is the Koyotes kicking game......a LOT of missed extra points and two kickoffs into the stands.

All in all it was a GREAT experience as usual. Ralph stopped by and chatted a couple of times during the game. When I was headed to the field after the game, I heard quite a few people tell him Thanks for bringing football to Topeka. He DEF is a fan's man. Can't wait til next week! Hope to see you guys there - I'll be there for sure!!
