So Richard Brosal is leaving to work for B2 Networks, Hmmmmmmm
Why is he leaving?
He knows the terrible financial situation he has put the league in and it probably will not recover. Teams deeply in debt, markets that can't support the team's expenses, Backdoor deals that leave the league holding the bag for teams that don't pay.
Its a mess and will be for some time. I hope the committee to find his replacement finds a strong business manager to help try and stabilize the league before its too late.
He has run out of markets to infiltrate and can no longer get a franchise bonus.
Bye Bye Dick!!

that he wanted to spend more time with his family, etc. It's a good time for him to exit, with the whole Danbury thing last year and several teams on thin ice this year.

So what does ole Dick have up his sleeve as far as the announcement? Will it be Indy or another city? Or is he just blowing smoke to take the focus off of him and onto something else? People have a hard time believing him and for good reason.

It's probably not him blowing smoke and diverting attention away from himself, this announcement will more than likely involve the fallout from his departure, thus being almost all about him.

In any league where the owners matter (a list that, for instance, does NOT include the ABA or NIFL), you must always remember that the commissioner is employed by, and therefore is nothing but a function of, the owners.
That doesn't mean it wasn't time for Brosal to go. That only means that one of the ills befalling the league is axed. You have to hope that the owners in place have made better friends with sponsors and advisors if you want to see the UHL survive, much less improve.

Found this on Savage Thoughts....
Top 10 reasons Richard Brosal is leaving the UHL
Five years ago, to commemorate 10 years on the United Hockey League beat, I did a weekly top 10 list to accompany my Tuesday column. I thought of doing something similar this year in honor of year No. 15, but it was just something that never happened.
But this afternoon, while watching Friday's David Letterman show (TiVo is the world's best invention), I thought "Why not do top 10 lists on the blog?" (I actually said that to myself. Just not out loud.) And who better to serve as the subject of the first list than Richard Brosal, outgoing commissioner of the UHL?
So, with a little help from my good buddy Robb King (who should have been worrying more about the hungry people of Ohio instead of helping me put together something as mindless as this!), let me present Savage Thoughts' first Top 10 list:
Top 10 reasons Richard Brosal is leaving the UHL
10. Has no desire to visit Flint and rebuild the owner's reputation again this spring.
9. Tired of presenting the Colonial Cup to Muskegon.
8. Wants to get out before Danbury applies for reinstatement.
7. Board of Governors refused his request to rename it the BHL --- Brosal Hockey League.
6. With all the abuse he takes from fans, the $750,000 annual salary just isn't worth it any more.
5. Despite spending so much time on the road, Motel 6 stopped leaving the light on for him.
4. Suspending Robbie Nichols isn't nearly as much fun as it used to be.
3. Now that Brian Werger is gone, he'll have to show up in the office more than once a week and actually do some work.
2. Getting ready to appear as George Costanza in "Seinfeld: The Movie."
1. No longer willing to refer to Tony Lisman as "Pappa Geppetto."
