Cleveland AHL team named Lake Erie Monsters

A real marketing genius came up with this one. Ick!

Why not name them something Avalanche related and, of course, use the Cleveland city name.

They play at the Q, so it needs to be called Cleveland. Even Ohio would have been better.

I like it better than the other name they trademarked:

"Cleveland Fighting Walleye"

Double Ick to that one!!

Lake Erie Monsters reminds me of the minor league baseball team "Vermont Lake Monsters"

I love hockey but come on how many teams have to fail before cleveland is off limits .. Barons , Lumberjacks , Barons a 2nd time ( sharks) . am i missing any ?

I fail to see how the death of the NHL team back in the 1970s and the acing out of the Lumberjacks by the Barons pt. 2 has relevance to Cleveland's viability as a hockey market.

ok I went to jacks games etc not alot of people there even afte rthe move to downtown .. there was very little marketing for hockey in cleveland ... but yeah what do I know I just lived there

none of the previous teams had the financial backing of the Cleveland Cavaliers. So expect a lot of marketing with this one.

Well...first off the little marketing thing is important to any team drawing. Second....for awhile in the 90s the Jacks were close to, if not actually, outdrawing the Cavs. Sounds like a properly marketed Cleveland hockey team could do well.

well we'll see like i said it would be nice to see but I wont hold my breath . even if it does have the cavs backing .
