Hey All.. I read this timeline of the goings on with the TIPS organization
and it was so interesting I thought I would share it with my fellow OSC folks..
I did NOT write this.. So don't condemn me for any spelling or puntuation errors.. lol... And don't give me any credit for any great insite or knowledge either... (And your're thinking... We never have had any reason before.. Why would we now!!) heh.. Take Care All
Many of you have sat and questioned Garmez Parks and TIPS for many months now. Some of you have even defended him and said TIPS would be doing great things. I am here to provide you with all of the answers since the great TIPS dynasty has crumbled to the ground. But according to Parks they will see how the courts take care of things. Here we go starting with Knoxville.
Knoxville 2003
Parks runs the team, fires Heath Shuler citing difference of opinions truth is TIPS couldn't afford to pay Shuler. Parks runs front office as well that sells 32 season tickets yes 32. Team also sells 4 dasherboards. Parks tells John Candlish(owner of TIPS) that george Lemon had poisoned the
water and this is why they were unable to sell tickets and sponsorships, team leaves bills around town and plays last 2 home games at neutral sites. Season ends TIPS leaves knoxville with plenty of bills. Call the arena the will tell you it's somewhere around $20,000 they are owed.
Bismarck late 2003
TIPS purchases team with 2 weeks left in regular season, agrres to pay 3 weeks of payroll the team was behind, local bills of $20,000, bank note of approximately $80,000 and fund remainder of 2003 season including paying for league rebates on season tickets. all in all getting bismarck
and it's sister franchise for $160,000. Parks tells other insiders "that Bismarck is his chance to win a title right now and that's all he cares about". Agreement also states that team is to be kept in Bismarck for one year. League approves this sale at league meetings and stating that TIPS must play in bismarck for 1 season. TIPS moves franchises does not pay bills or player payroll and is being sued by several involved in bismarck for amounts totaling close to $2,000,000 including penalties, interest and damages.
Fort Collins
TIPS talks league into allowing them to have 2nd bismarck Franchise moved to fort Collins. Former Casper owner Brian fleisher was also trying to get fort collins but Tips was able to convince Shiver they could run it. League allowed TIPS to take Fort Collins provided that they complete deal with Bismarck. TIPS continues to lie to shiver saying that they have completed Bismarck transaction, Parks goes so far as to tell his boss that he made Bismarck payments and all is well when candlish finds out how far behind all teams are he immediately asks SHIVER to remove them from schedule. Shiver says to late and begins to look for new investors on March 1.
Waco
TIPS tries to purchase Austin membership on terms with the league, league says no way, buy a new frachise, TIPS makes no payments on said new franchise, league is forced to pull franchises from TIPS.
Greenville
TIPS signs agreement with Bi-Lo center stating that if they post letter of credit TIPS will get there ticket money but not until then, this is standard with all arenas to protect the arena from an event like this. Parks want to blame arena it is not arenas fault, Parks then says TIPS can't post letter of
credit because Candlish is going through a divorce. once again not the arena's fault. League is working to find new owner for Greenville.
What's going to happen to TIPS?
As we speak the following things are happening to TIPS Lawsuits in the state of North Dakota are growing by the day, Greenvilee arena filed uit against them today for breach of Contract, League is tapping letters of credit and personal guarantees in excess of $350,000. Budweiser events
center filing suit by week's end, HOT in Waco also filing suit. All in all it will be a longer season for TIPS than if they would have kept together and lost all of their games and their money. should be interesting to watch.
