What's the deal with WAR? I've been to the web site and I have emailed them and haven't gotten a response.

Is the league ever going to launch?

I wish I knew too.......this league looks very promising but a glitzy website doesn't mean squat until you've got a product on the floor. But at this point I would hazard a guess and say that this season would be a no go.

The last e-mail I received from WAR was back in June 2003 stating the league was to start in the summer of 2004. There is a team listed here called the St. Louis Mugs, but I have not read or heard any publicity about the team.

From what I have read about the league, it tried some test games back in 1998 and 2000. I think the league was originally referred to as Professional Arena Rugby. Who knows, if not this summer, maybe next year, or the next . . .

The WAR web site was www.worldarenarugby.com. The last time the site was available it had the following teams listed:

Chicago MOB Denver Rush
Dallas Outlaws Los Angeles Road Warriors
Houston Republic San Diego Destroyers
Omaha Herd San Francisco Rocks
St. Louis Mugs Seattle Surge

The LA and Dallas teams were the "old-timers", playing exhibition or "test" matches in 1998 and 2000. The league was originally known as Professional Arena Rugby back in 1998.

I think since the site is now dead that the league itself is dead. Does anyone know any different?

Not to dredge up this old thread, but I was curious if anything had come of this and apparently W.A.R. is still alive in some regard. Has anyone heard anything more about it? All I can find by Googling is that there was a company who was going to buy the league and then for some reason or other the sale was off. That was either in 2006 or 2007 depending which press release you read. But it sounds like the company that was to buy the league is still interested. So has anyone heard anything more than just this?
