...what are the odds of a new league starting up in area left vacant by the folding of the WBL? It doesn't seem like there's any affilated teams (*cough*californialeague*cough*) that are willing to make the geographical adjustment to relocating to Chico. Vacaville was supported enough to keep afloat, Medford's a diamond in the rough with no other sports competition minus the speedway, and Redding could be one (if there was a stadium). Bend might be worth another shot as well.

That's as far as I have any genuine knowledge? Any other thinkers (well, not saying I'm much of a thinker, but you know...)out there with any ideas?

I've head for a couple of years now rumors of a "Golden State League". This was floating around before the demise of the WBL. Whether anything will ever come of this is anyone's guess.

I live in Hayward and I read an article about that Golden League. Looking to have a team in Pleasanton near me. They have a webisite www.goldenbaseball.com I don'rt know anything else or where they will play. Says 2005.

There is a league in the works but the northern area teams at this point (Ie old WBL teams) will not be included.
The league will have announcements as more information comes forth but there will again be teams in southern california and arizona set to play in 2005.

I heard more aboutr this Golden League on the radio here in the Bay Area. They say they will play in Pleasanton which would be great for me! The guy also said they would have teams in southern California. No listing of locations on the website. Wait and see.

I read more about this Golden Baseball League. It sounds like they have a pretty strong group of investors including Pat Sajak (I wonder if Vanna White will throw out a first pitch?) The article speculated that Chico and Long Beach are candidates. Any insiders know if Antioch, Brentwood or Vacaville are being considered?
