Hello.
We are now back in Yuma from our holiday travels and I have to say it's downright cold in Yuma, and very windy the past few days we have been here. Will this cold weather affect the games do you think?

As long as it's not raining, it just means we'll have to bundle up in the stands. Maybe by the second weekend in February it'll be warmer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully they will have a large stock of hot chocolate in the concession stand. We were trying to remember this morning when it has been this cold and windy in Yuma during the winter months we are here.

My guess would be no, because we're getting much colder weather here in San Diego, too. The wind is not that unusual, but combined with the cold, it's skin piercing. Gotta love that global warming, huh? :infun:

Garry and I played in a tournament this past weekend, up in Rialto. Holy Cow Pies! The first day, it never got above 35 and was windier than can be described. We saw SNOW in the mountains and on the ground, plus LOTS of black ice. We're both glad that weekend has come and gone. But, we're scheduled to make it out to Yuma for opening weekend.
Is it supposed to stay cold through the weekend? Um, is it Long Johns time?

It's been a bit chilly in the mornings here in Yuma this week but it's been warming each day as the cold front is moving through. Weather Underground has a weekend forecast of highs on Friday and Saturday of 62 and lows of 41 with a partly cloudy sky -- given the early start times temperatures will be around 60 at game time.
The spring training is off to a great start and the players reported in better shape than expected. Only two minor injuries in the first two days -- pulled groin and sprained ankle. Some early highlights are a pitcher hitting 93 on the radar gun, a pair of big first baseman just crushing the ball, and a couple of Canadian pitchers impressing everyone with their nasty stuff.

I will definitely let you know.
I have what some might call a vested interest. I have four players show casing their skills in the AWL. Kevin Spalding (P), Tomio Mack (C/P), Roberto Hernandez (P/IF), and Dustin G (P) (I can't remember how to spell his lastname). I spoke with Spaldo and T-Mack yesterday. They both reported exactly what Commish is sharing, almost word for word. They also said it's freezing and funny to see guys on the field in two & three sweatshirts, gloves, long johns, etc. All in efforts to keep warm and injury free.
They both said that there is definitely varying degrees of play. Some guys are dropping bombs or throwing chad, and others, well let's not go there. But, mostly because some of the players haven't picked up a ball for 6 months or more, and some simply are in aw of the experience, not having ever being in this type of situation. Once things get rolling, everything will fall into place. Overall, they're having a blast and impressed with what they're seeing & learning. Shoot who wouldn't be? Look at all the "icons" of the game who are involved.
