I'll be passing through Syracuse in late March and plan on catching a Crunch game. Could any of you fans give me the "Heads-Up" on the best seats, where to eat before the game and what to expect from the crowd. I know Syracuse signed a 4 year deal with Columbus so I'd also like to know what the attendance is like and how well the team is supported. Thanks Crunch fans!:D

they draw more than 5,100 per game. I've heard their arena is one of the last true relics in the AHL. So I'm sure it's cool to see a game there.

HockeyFan70,
Can you say Hanson Brothers??? The OnCenter where the Crunch play is also the same as the old Onondaga County War Memorial where parts of the movie Slapshot was filmed many, many moons ago (interior, rink shots circa 1976-1977). I grew up attending events there until I left Syracuse in my early twenties and that place has seen performances of Disney on Parade (yes, I am dating myself with that one!), the circus, The Grateful Dead, Alice Cooper, my high school graduation, Bruce Springsteen, I could go on. It was THE place for the big names and events prior to the Carrier Dome being built on the Syracuse University campus. There have been very few renovations done to it since I can remember except that they connected the Civic Center and the War Memorial to make one big building. BUT, the ice rink is one of the best in the area and has always been maintained well and the fans are great. The Crunch may not be the best team in the AHL, but sometimes it's just fun to go to a game for the fun and the ambiance (or so my mom says!). They have a decent turn out and they have a young team that is up and coming. Enjoy your Crunch experience.

In my opinion the Crunch Club (Rows A-D), as it is called, and up offer the best seats. Stay away from Ice Level Rows AA and so on. There are also some nice seats behind one of the goals (Sections 11-14). Here's a seating chart - http://www.syracusecrunch.com/schedule/seating.cfm.

Should be good seats up until game time, especially considering how poorly the team is playing now, that might change, I hope. It is a great rink to watch hockey in though. Gets very loud and almost every game seems to be entertaining.

Good luck!

I thought Slap Shot was filmed in Johnstown (which is why they call their hockey team the Chiefs)
