When is enough , enough ?

Time to toss in the towel on the season before you piss off the 10 fans who still attend your pathetic attempt to create the illusion that you are a "Pro Basketball Team"

The best move the ABA ever made was getting rid of them and the CBA being dumb enough to accept them.

I'm not proud of that score, but I'm glad that we still have a team. Besides, what do you know about the Xplosion? You probably don't even live here. You just like bashing them. If they don't win a game all season, I'll still go to their games.
FYI, we do get a decent crowd, which is much more than the '40' you claim it is. Why don't you find another team to pick on?!

join Uncle Joe and ride off into the sunset. No matter what you think about the CBA and its teams, at least they don't milk hard-working people out of money like the ABA and its swindlers.

Again... why is this being posted on an ABA message board?

Listen up 06er... There's a little thing called the "quarter point" system in the CBA, in that teams can still earn playoff positioning by how many quarters they win just as much as how many games they win. I don't recall any of the Xplosion games being 0-7 blowouts (a maximum of seven points is earned for each victory), most of their games have been 5-2 contests, which are very competitive.

And here's something else for you, 06er... The Xplosion are playing all their scheduled games - on time - with all the players signed to their roster - in clean uniforms and matching socks. What other ABA franchise (other than Rochester and Vermont) can say that on a consistent basis?

And here's one more tidbit for you, crunchy - the Xplosion can actually PROVE their games were played - with boxscores and game reports. Unless a local newspaper actually takes the time to cover the ABA games and calculate their own box scores, or some kind soul actually forwards a press release to OSC, it doesn't happen in the ABA. Example - how come nobody's produced that 191-66 boxscore between Detroit and Toledo earlier this season? Did the game ever exist? Was it really played by both franchises? How come Unca Joe's not trumpeting it on his website instead of announcing which sucker - er - expansion team is coming in for 2007-08?

I guess for you, 06er, facts don't get in the way of a diatribe. Stop trying to be a polemicist, you're not doing a good enough job of it.

ABA06er-

While you are on the subject, you missed a few others:

Orlando 2 – 7: clueless about basketball off the court (“There is a team in Syracuse?”); pretty much the same on it as well

Atlanta 1 – 7: A poor excuse of a franchise in a good sports town; their only win is against a team that was seemingly so shocked to lose, they closed up shop for the rest of the year

Mississippi 3 – 7: The “Miracle” is that they are still playing games, after announcing ON THEIR WEBSITE that their season ended after a loss on 12/5

Newark 1 – 8: the punching bag for the Northeast

Montreal 0 – 10: no skates, no ownership, no chance

Waco 1 – 10: Waco hasn’t seen anything this bad since the Branch Davidian stand-off

Houston 4 – 7: Apparently deciding not to “undertake” road trips to save some money

Peoria 4 – 9: They may play in Peoria, but they don’t win there (0-4 at home)

Toledo 0 – 1: As the Ice; not so nice. But, hey they have a new name. Now, if they can find cash, a venue, fans, and a clue, they may win a game.

Hammond 2 – 6: Joe’s backyard team dies. Will he drive to Sauk Valley (assuming there is somewhere to drive TO for a game?)

Big Valley 1 – 7: Big Valley does not refer to the state of the ABA at this time (subterranean would be more appropriate)

Las Vegas 2 – 5: Britney Spears’ quickie wedding lasted longer in Vegas than the Venom

Fresno 3 – 7: Fresno is still listed on the league website, even though they NO LONGER EXIST. You’d think the league would at least update the name to Sacramento; but based on the myriad of other things the ABA league office has failed to deliver, this is just standard operating procedure.

But hey, be sure to blast Pittsburgh some more. They play their games, they report their stats; they do everything a team backed by a 60 year old, tradition-laden professional sports league should do. Meanwhile, the only legacy in this ABA is the guy in his Indianapolis kitchen, continuing to burn minor league markets $10K at a time....

Since we're on the topic of not jumping on teams simply because they are struggling--and I agree that Pittsburgh seems to be an organization that always has done things right--I think there are a few ABA teams that just got a little unfair criticism. Newark has been very competitive and they've simply lost a number of close games. Atlanta also seems to be a well run organization that is a victim of losing close games in a more competitive southern region. I also don't see the logic in jumping on Peoria.

I'm sure the financials are very ugly for Pittsburgh given they still play in a costly arena and they have significant travel now. But, I hope they rebound. The effort is there, it just doesn't seem that the city is interested at this point. Obviously, a win or two would help too. I hope they can turn things around.

BDaly- I agree with some of your points.

My post was really just done in the irrational, single-minded vein of pretty much every post by ABA06er. On the court success is not always indicative of a franchise's overall success or stability. Pittsburgh is winless, but is miles ahead of the overwhelming majority of ABA teams as a franchise.

I cherry-picked the worst records in the league. I could easily have chosen any number of other teams with better W-L numbers - like the Arkansas franshise that has also decided not to travel, the nomadic Buzz, the Fame (all sizzle, no steak); as well as those that are already RIP (about many teams have failed this year in the ABA as are in - and actively playing - in the CBA).

My point is that rather than the infantile, incessant "nyeh-nyeh' crap about Pittsburgh, our resident Mensa candidate would be well served to turn his attention to the vast shortcomings in his namesake league.

Regardless of what 06er has said, I would hope that nobody thinks he lives in this city, as he has always avoided my question to that subject.
