Does Albany broadcast any games on web radio. Webcast isn't working again, so what's new! Would have loved to listen to the Minot/Albany game.

A score should have been released by now, at least from the Albany game. I don't see anything. No webcast games tonight, I checked.

Good pictures, Chuck! Hopefully, the Xplosion will finally get their first win this week, either tonight in Indiana, or Saturday vs. Albany(which I'll be at). I think we have the advantage in that, since the Patroons visit Indiana on Friday night.

More pictures of the dance team would be nice though.

psbf,
Is there anyway you could provide photographic evidence to settle the attendance debate at Mellon Arena? I'd like to see for myself.

I can relate to what you're saying, Ken. I don't know if they allow fans to bring cameras into M.A., though. They have gotten tighter on security. I am a season ticket holder. I'll see what I can do, though. Media can do it, but I'm not media.

According to what I read in an online version of the Albany paper, the Patroons play in a 4,000 seat facility. They were hoping to get 2,000 on Christmas day(vs. Indiana) but could only get 1,114.

The next night, however, they pulled 2,054 in a loss to Minot. I anticipate that after the holidays, though, attendance will go up throughout the league.

Nice shots. Patroons still play in the Armory? Does any team play at the Knickerbocker Arena? I used to live above the drug store on the corner of Lark & Washington. Is Jim Coyne out of jail now? The crowd looks pretty small. In the 80s, the place really rocked and was jammed. I remember the games against Wyoming. Good stuff.

I miss living in Albany.

Okay, quick recap.

Patroons returned to the CBA in 2005, moved back into the Armory (which had been renovated and upgraded, Jim Coyne now owns the building and can generate income from concerts, trade shows, seminars, HS basketball, etc. in addition to the Patroons).

Jim Coyne finished his jail term about 8 years ago.

If you used to live over Branch Drugs on Lark & Washington, it's now a multi-ethnic restaurant serving Chinese, Japanese and Mexican food. Washington also has an Indian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a couple of sub shops, a fried chicken restaurant and Ma'moun's falafel. Good stuff.

The Knickerbocker Arena was renamed the Pepsi Arena in 1996 and will be rebranded the Times Union Center in January 2007. The Albany River Rats and Siena men's basketball play there. The Albany Firebirds Arena Football team moved to Indiana and folded; Albany now has an af2 team that I never bothered watching. They also had a Lacrosse team (the Albany Attack) which drew miserably.

You really need to see what they've done with the Armory - it looks much better on the inside than it ever did before.
