With the news out of Montreal, Toledo and Hammond today, we may be seeing some significant cracks start to form in what had been the ABA's significantly improved facade. Further, a call to Mississippi revealed that Dr. Myers is no longer in charge of the Miracle, and Mississippi cancelled its trip to South Alabama late yesterday afternoon, leaving the Bounce no choice but to cancel the game with almost no notice to its fans. The Miracles are supposed to be under new ownership today.

No surprises on the first three. Toledo has played one game, Hammond's owner has been very vocal about the ABA's flaws, and Montreal went through half of last season underpowered (although Montreal still seems to be pushing forward for the time being). Mississippi would be unfortunate though. That's exactly the issue the league has to avoid: bad teams messing up good teams' home games. It's not the end of the world if road games get cancelled for a good team, but when good teams have to annoy their own fans, it's a bad situation.

See, this is what George Bush needs to do...

..he needs to appoint me as National Sports Commissioner. Then give me da power, dude!

I'll go after Joe Newman, Jim Terry, and a bunch of other clowns who are likely violating interstate trade laws about fraud. They are killing minor league sports.

I'd also realign Division I-A football and put in a real playoff where every teams has a puncher's chance.

Good times.

The Bounce.

What a perfect name for an ABA team. It probably best describe's the owner's checkbook.

Don't lump all the ABA teams in the same barrel. The Bounce appears to be trying to do things right.

But...but....but....I thought ABA teams didn't fold/suspend operations! I thought they got kicked out by Joe!

It's ok, Pittsburgh's a joke. The CBA is doomed and will be dead within a week! They have no idea how to run a basketball league.

Mississippi seems to be making a habit of shortened seasons. While the idea of having a pastor run a team is noble, they've lost both teams this season (Baltimore and Mississippi, I don't think there are others). I'm sure funding is the shortfall. With that said, the Charlotte Eagles of the USL's Division II are run by a religious group and they're a class organization from what I've heard with good funding. So there are exceptions. But, they're obviously are backed by the whole organization as opposed to a single person.

Hey, I resent that. Pittsburgh is not a joke. I happen to be a season ticket holder for the Xplosion and proud of it!
But I can't believe that Nevada is adding a second team to the ABA, when the Las Vegas Venom could only average 300 fans.

I was channeling the local ABA schill if you didn't get it.

That's cool. I love my city and my team, I'm sensitive about them, hope you can understand.
But my point was about Nevada. Henderson has a team scheduled to join the league.

When it comes to ABA expansions, do what I do.

Yell "D. O. A."

I may be off by a year or two in 33% of the cases, but since I take the long-term view of things anyway, I figure I'm damn accurate.
