Don't blame anyone on this. Houston at NW Arkansas, scheduled for tonight, has been canceled due to 2-4" of snow and slick roads. They never expect this weather down there.

True enough - safety comes first.

But, somehow this bad weather will be the excuse the ABA CEO uses as the primary reason when a dozen other teams fold during the year -as he blamed Katrina for the multitude of folded teams (most of which were nowhere near the damage) last season.

True. A lot of people were victimized and a lot were pretending to be victims, teams included.
Another casualty of the weather is Chicago vs. St. Louis, for tonight.

Road were a sheet of ice last night and early this morning they have gotten alot better today but are going to refreeze tonight. Here in North West Arkansas when that happens they roll the sidewalks up and no one gets out.

If Uncle Joe gets a hold of those sidewalks once they're rolled up, you'll lose em when the team bolts town. LOL.

I've never been to the Southeastern States, West of Georgia. But I can understand how unaccostomed and unprepared for Winter they must be.

Living in Vermont, I understand bad weather. I have friends down in the south who don't have a clue what to do when the weather gets bad. Ice? HAH!!! That is something they put in a drink; they don't walk on it, skate on it, or fish on it. (Well, I don't either; I like to think I am smarter than that.

Well, I used to live in Arizona, so I know the attitudes and knowledge of cold weather in the SW. There are 3 types of people in regards to winter.

1. People who used to live in the cold places of the world and are used to it.
2. People that like it who like to ski up in Nothern AZ.
3. What's Winter? Anything below 70 is too cold!!

Everyone was shocked when it started snowing in PHoenix in '99.

I got hit by the same storm as NW Ark. We were iced out for a day. 10 miles north and everything was clear. 10 to 20 miles south and east, everything was nasty. Coffeyville in SE Kansas is supposed to have a big JUCO basketball tournament this weekend, but some of the teams may not have made it for the first day of play.

I live near Chicago, we got about a foot, schools were closed, apparently it was worse downtown.

Don't know how many of you saw the Monday Night NFL game LAST week... Green Bay at Seattle. People watching would have thought the game was in Green Bay with all that snow.

I know Portland averages 5 inches of snow per year (and it does not snow every year). Seattle, right at sea level, is probably right there as well. That means it's NOT worth the expense to buy snow plows. So when you laugh about hearing that Seattle shuts down in an inch of snow, think of the taxpayers. :D

A friend of mine in Seattle says they have been getting a lot of snow and ice, apparently schools have been closed 3 times.
