Just picked this up from the net, and it's on the Strong Island website. Chris Sandy, who helped the Sound reach the semifinal round of the 2005 ABA championship tournament with a thrilling double-overtime victory over Indiana, was killed in a car crash in Finland, where he was playing professionally. Total tragedy.
Sandy was a former Harlem Globetrotter, and also played with the NEPA Breakers and Brooklyn Kings in the 2006 USBL season.
The Sound will honor Sandy's memory by returing his 22 jersey, wearing black armbands, and observing a moment of silence before Friday night's game.
Thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends.
