According to multiple sources, the NIFL should have its roster of teams and schedule finalized by Wednesday. The clock is ticking.

...and that'll turn into the next Wednesday, and the next, and the next, and the next...

I hope these teams don't think they'll make a killing by trying to launch and sell tickets and sponsorships during the holidays. Historically, not a good idea. San Diego is the only new team that will have much of a jump on the holidays as they've already officially launched.

From what I have heard on another message board is that Columbia South Carolina is getting a team

We've heard nothing here in Columbia about a team.
The facility most mentioned to host a team is currently being built to open for the 2007 ECHL season. That would mean a 2008 startup for a football team. While the ECHL Inferno currently plays in the Carolina Coliseum, I'm not sure a startup football team would use that location.

I think that Columbia is a good place for an indoor football team. But I would rather it be an AIFA or WIFL team than an NIFL team.
And I enjoyed seeing Inferno games at the Coliseum. I don't know why the Inferno are abandoning it. It seems like a good place for a football game.

I hope it is announced this Wednesday, because then I would find out Milwaukee's team name, some of there players, and the schedule!

Hopefully the "owners" who show up at the meeting won't be Carolyn, Cleveland, and HP saying the real owners aren't ready to unveil their identities.
But the Colonial Center? Is that place big enough? There are a lot of seats, but that place was built for basketball. The Carolina Coliseum would work so much better.

I don't know about the size of the floor, but it is a beautiful new facility and a real arena. It might have the same problem as Greensboro, though, in that it is so big even a decent crowd will look empty. Still, a real arena is a step in the right direction.

"The league, based in Lafayette, La., was formed in October 2000 with the merger of the Indoor Football League and the Indoor Professional Football League."
If memory serves me right (and it is a little foggy now, even though I followed this really closely at that time), Shiver crippled the PIFL/IPFL by hauling the five or so strongest teams out of it and setting up "her" own league (NIFL). Again, if I remember correctly, nothing merged with the old IFL--that league got bought by the Orlando Predators and folded up after the predators took the Peoria Pirates out of it and put them in the AF2.
Can't they even get their story straight about the birth of their own league?

(who is surprised how upset CS is about the other teams jumping for the UIF and the WIFL when her own frickin' league started the same way!)

Too bad for Columbia. It would be a great place for indoor football. There are two MAJOR reasons it won't make it. 1. ITS ALREADY THANKSGIVING. When are these teams gonna learn that you can't put a team together 3 months from kickoff. 2. TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI,TONY PEWONSKI. Thats who is putting the team in Columbia. He has been trying to sell the team in Greensboro but as you can image HE and the NIFL believe the value of these teams is more than anyone is willing to pay. We as fans won't have to put up with this much longer due to the fact that the NIFL and Pewonski are running out of arenas and cities. Columbia..... You deserve better.

If Pewonski is involved, great arena or not, Columbia has made a mistake.

With the likes of Pawonski, LaMunyon, Patterson, (the list is long) isn't it really a matter of time before "REAL" criminal charges are brought up against CS and others in the league? Your only as good as the company you keep, the few remaining team owners should see this? As should the new teams. San Diego? Why would anyone with any moral charachter get involved? Maybe answered my own question....
Propsective owners... do your due diligence.....

It will be real interesting to get the details on Columbia. When the Colonial Center was originally announced, the Columbia Inferno (ECHL) was going to be playing there. After the university found out that their payments would be substantially higher if a for-profit entity was a tenant the Inferno was suddenly left to continue using the Carolina Coliseum (which is why they are building their own facility). So the question is, (and don't get ahead of me) how can a for-profit entity use the facility? I guess the answer is, it's the NIFL, there is not possibility of profit!!

I called The State Newspaper to see if they had a reporter assigned to tomorrows press conference. The gentleman on the phone said that it had not been assigned yet.
Paul, any chance they could contact you for info on the league?
