When the Wild were announced I wondered if they might play some Sunday-Friday games in Texas. Fly out on a Friday. Played that Sunday. Have Monday thru Thursday to get to the next venue. Then play Friday and fly home on Saturday.
I understand the whole "have a life and other jobs thing". Your pretty much gone a week by flying to Texas twice anyway. Something like this could really reduce airfare. It's just not always practical.

One thing I noticed is how Alaska has a whole batch of games in Texas and Louisiana from April 21 to May 19, almost a whole month. But I figured something like that might happen, and it was a good way to get 5 of Alaska's 7 road games in at one time. But I wonder how people's bosses will react when they learn their workers are gonna take a month off to play minor league football in Texas.

Guess its Thursday Night Football in Alaska. Problem with this is we have only three sporting events here, Alaska Aces hockey, college hockey and Thursday Night at the Fights. Now Thursday night at the Field.
At least there are only two games during the school year on Thursday. Weekday school time sporting events in Alaska get a lot lower turn out. They will need to run promos for these games to make them successfull. I would sell group packs to companies to get decent attendence. You can't give away your tickets or they lose value, but you can make it cheap for people to buy in bunches. Try for 1,000-1,500 group attendees. If half those people come back you are a success.

It would almost have to be they stay in Texas for the month. If not the back and forth airfare plus helping the Texas teams would be around $175K fpr te season. By them staying in Texas the airfare would be cut to $115K. But then you have hotel expenses for approx 27 days as well. And then also the perdiem for IFL players which I have no idea but I would assume at least $30/day per player.

In the IFL, it's the home team's responsibility to provide lodging for the visiting team. Under normal circumstances, the home team must provide one night of lodging for the visiting team in the event that they had to travel more than 300 miles. However, special provisions have been made in Alaska's case. Each home team must provide three extra night's lodging for Alaska when they visit. It's not that much more of a burden for the home teams.

How do you know that the players will even have other jobs? Do you know the percentage of guys that work at this level during the season? You can trust that not many of the players will even carry other jobs if any. Besides who says that any local players will make up the team. I can't imagine that there are many quality players in Alaska.

Thats kind of an ignorant comment. Not trying to offend you, just pointing out that nobody knows the talent level of the local players. Just because we are not Texas does not mean we do not know football.

I would imagine that Alaska has a handful of good football players just like Texas has a decent number of good hockey players.
The bottomline is, football players don't play at this level simply for recreation. They do it because they love the game. And if they love it enough, the few who have secondary jobs will take the time off to come to Texas & Louisiana, even for a few weeks or a month at a time.
I know for a fact that very few of the players here in Odessa maintain other jobs during the season. Most, if not all of them will carry jobs in the offseason. But not during the regular season.

Sorry to offend you. But I just think that to be competitive you are not going to be able to do it with all local players. If you look at some of the rosters in the IFL you will see many good players with good college backgrounds. For example...Centex has a QB who was the NCAA D2 Harlon Hill Trophy winner. That is equal to the D1 Heisman. There are many players with NFL experience in the league as well. I just don't think you could compete with just guys from Alaska. I am not saying that football in Texas is any different than football in Alaska because I don't know. But I do know that players in Texas have more opportunity to develop because there is more opportunity to play good college football after high school. A good player in Texas has the chance to go to college and grow with more experience and coaching. There are many good players in Alaska who have their careers end after high school simply because the opportunity is not there. Which means the experience is not gained and they don't get the coaching. Does than mean you don't have good players? No. You just don't have as many developed ones.

I have this weird sense that Alaska's team will have a relatively healthy Texan contingent. Just a sense.
